Prime TV DVD Picks
24 – Season Four
This was the best season since the first season of 24. It got you hooked right from the start and never let up until Jack walks off into the sunset. If you are like me and can’t wait for Season 5 to begin then get your hands on this DVD set as they have included a 10-minute mini episode that takes place about a year after the end of Season 4 and about four months before the start of Season 5. A bridge between the two days that updates you on Jack a little and gives you some hints to what will happen in the upcoming season. Other special features include: Commentaries on some episodes, 39 deleted scenes with commentary and a look behind the scenes. This is the best type of TV show to have on DVD as once you watch one episode you want to watch the next and so on until the end. The show includes seven discs of content.
Roseanne – The Complete Second Season
This was a very funny show. Especially in the first few seasons as it portrayed a different sitcom family. One you hadn’t really seen on TV. It was fresh and the reruns I catch from time to time still hold up today. Some things are just funny no matter when they were originally done. This set is also said to have the original full episodes as opposed to the first season, which had the cut down for syndication episodes. The set comes on four discs and includes an interview with John Goodman and video of him auditioning for the part of Dan Connor.
The West Wing – The Complete Fifth Season
This is the season where series creator Aaron Sorkin left the show. Many find this season to be lacking. The dialogue between characters may not have been as good but the drama was still there and as the season progressed it improved as the new writing team found its stride. The show was still better than a lot of what was on TV that season. The set comes on six discs that include all 22 episodes with commentary on three of them. Also you will find a look at how the Gaza episode was put together and some unaired scenes from three episodes.
