Tonight on the Tube: Comedies, CSI and Without a Trace

Tonight is the return of ‘Must See TV’ on NBC. Well that is what they would want you to believe. It is the return of the two-hour comedy block on Thursday night though. The best of the night is in the second hour of primetime up against a new CSI. Digital Video Recorder to the rescue. Will you be watching the so-so stars dance, Earl and the office boat party or Grissom and company solving crimes?

Prime Picks

Will & Grace (NBC): Grace plans for her and Will to attend a musical in costume.
Four Kings (NBC): Debut of this new buddy comedy. The early buzz is that this is just another filler between otherwise good shows. Might as well check it out unless you are into dancing with quasi-stars, as that is the only other new show in this time period.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (CBS): Grissom and the team investigate a murder where the victim is a man completely covered in hair. Werewolf? Probably not but probably does have some rare disease or syndrome.

Without a Trace (CBS): The team searches for a paramedic that disappears after working on a wounded gang member who just shot another gang member.

Solid Selections

Smallville (WB): Repeat of the episode with Aquaman.

My Name is Earl (NBC): Earl tries to make up for burning down a barn years earlier.
The Office (NBC): The whole office crew goes on a motivational cruise and things get out of hand.

ER (NBC): Abby is still struggling with becoming a mother. Kovac and Neela help a teenager of a religious background go over her options for her pregnancy.

Other Options

Dancing With the Stars (ABC): Two hours of competition between the likes of Jerry Rice, Kenny Mayne, Tia Carrere, Tatum O’Neal, Lisa Rinna and others. I don’t really see the draw, as I didn’t with the original back in the summer. I am not one to watch much in the way of this reality type programming anyway. If you are watching this tonight, what is it that makes you want to tune in and watch it?

Primetime (ABC): ABC news investigative reporting.

Cable Choices

Friends (TBS): Repeat of the episode with all the Princess Leia talk. This was a very funny episode.
Friends (TBS): Repeat where Ross is trying to get everybody to hurry up and get ready for a black-tie benefit. Classic episode of the show with the fight over the chair, Rachel can’t decide what to wear, Monica attempting to be all breezy and Joey going commando in all those clothes.

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (USA): A fun lighthearted romantic comedy starring the beautiful Kate Hudson. Some of the bits in this contrived meeting of the two leads is pretty funny. Runs three hours because of all the commercials.

Sports Notes

NBA Basketball on TNT will be the Houston Rockets at the Cleveland Cavaliers in the early game followed by the Indiana Pacers at the Golden State Warriors.
