Tonight on the Tube: The WB Comedy In Justice NUMB3RS

by @ 3:57 am. Filed under Tonight on the Tube

Mr. Monk Goes to the FirehouseThe WB has a full comedy lineup tonight as opposed to the last couple of weeks. It is sci-fi Friday on the Sci-Fi Channel with new eps of SG-1 and Battlestar Galactica. The CBS lineup is all new tonight as well. The finals of the Women’s side of the Australian open are tonight. UPN has the WWE Friday Night SmackDown! as usual. The Book of Daniel is no longer as it has been canceled. That was a show with just too much going on and not much of it good. What TV shows will you be watching this Friday night? Comedies, dramas, celeb-reality dance results or will you just go by the NUMB3RS?

What I Like About You (WB): Well you finally get to see that Vic is all right and when he comes home from the hospital Val has to do everything for him.

Tonight on the Tube: Smallville, CSI and Without a Trace

by @ 4:28 am. Filed under Tonight on the Tube

Smallville : 2006 Wall CalendarWhat will you be watching tonight? The big deal tonight is who dies on Smallville. What is the deal with shows always wanting to kill off their characters? Can’t they find something else to make the shows interesting? This seems to be the latest and greatest in TV land. Not that is hasn’t been done before. It just seems more prevalent as of late. The idea that at any time one of your favorite heroes or villains could disappear and with them so can the ratings. Sometimes the audience stays interested like so far on Lost. Sometimes they don’t like when Vaughn on Alias was dispatched. I have even heard the idea bandied about as a way to breathe new life into CSI, which seems to be the only one in that franchise that hasn’t lost a main character in someway. How about that? New life for a TV show by killing someone off. What do you think about the idea of the killing off characters on TV shows to change things up or to try and grab some ratings?

Prime Picks

Smallville (WB): Clark tells Lana his secret. The senatorial election is decided. Oh yah and someone close to Clark dies. Who do you think it is? I have not read any spoilers or any info on the subject and don’t really care to as I would like to see what happens as it happens. I have seen the ads for it though and it looks like the person dies in a car crash and who drives a red SUV? That would lead you to believe that it is Lana along with the fact that Clark tells her the truth about himself and Chloe drives a VW Bug. If you look at it from how you know the future story of Superman goes then it is not Ma or Pa Kent, Lois Lane or Lex Luthor. That leaves Lana or Chloe as title characters that don’t really show up much later in the Superman story, as I know it. Although Lana Lang was in one of the Superman movies with Christopher Reeve, Annette O’Toole played her. So that leaves me with my first thought that it is Chloe and not Lana. She is somewhat extraneous to the overall Superman story once again as I know it.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (CBS): Faye Dunaway guest stars as a former showgirl with ties to the mob who writes a tell-all book and at a party for it someone dies.

Without a Trace (CBS): The team searches for a missing teacher. As they investigate it starts to look like she was having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Solid Selections

That ‘70s Show (FOX): Jackie gets a job on a talk show and finds that showbiz is not at all what she thought is was like.
Four Kings (NBC): Jealousy between friends over a former high school crush. This show looked to have some potential after the pilot episode. Unfortunately the next two episodes have squandered all that potential quite badly. Will the fourth be the charm for these kings?

My Name is Earl (NBC): Earl decides to make a friend’s last day before jail something special.
The Office (NBC): Someone stains the carpet in Michael’s office leading him to question his relationship with the staff.

ER (NBC): Repeat of Nobody’s Baby. Starts a minute before the hour.

Other Options

Dancing With the Stars (ABC): It is an option, which many people seem to be taking. Do you watch? If so, why? Runs 90 minutes.
Crumbs (ABC): Comes on right after all the star dancing.

Primetime (ABC): ABC News investigative reports.

Cable Choices

Emeril Live (Food Network): Emeril teaches Gumbo 101 in this repeat.

Patriot Games (USA): The movie starring Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan the hero from the Tom Clancy booked that the movie is based on. Runs two hours and 58 minutes.

Sports Notes

TNT has a NBA double header tonight. The early game is the Phoenix Suns at the Miami Heat. That game is followed by the Dallas Mavericks visiting my hometown Seattle Supersonics. Seems that you are only allowed one good sports team in your city at a time. Right now it is the Seahawks, last year it was the Sonics and a couple of years ago it was the Mariners.
