by @ 4:28 am. Filed under Tonight on the Tube

Forrest Gump: The Soundtrack - 32 American Classics On 2 CDsThe best thing on tonight is Hustle the BBC import playing each Saturday night on American Movie Classics. I caught up with the show last weekend and it is quiet fun to watch. The last major day of competition before the closing ceremonies tomorrow night for the Winter Olympics, never really got into them much this time around. How about you, have you been watching?

Prime Picks

XX Olympic Winter Games (NBC): Men’s slalom final, men’s 500m speed skating final, women’s 1000m speed skating final, men’s 5000m speed skating relay and four man bobsled final. Coverage runs three and a half hours.

Solid Selections

Forrest Gump (ABC): Watch Tom Hanks in one of his best roles. The lovable but not so smart man who ends up apart of many historical events. Runs three hours.

Other Options

Cold Case (CBS): Repeat where a rare ring is found on the finger of a dead junkie, which prompts the team to reopen a 1984 case.

Trading Spaces (TLC): Repeat where some living rooms are made over.

Hustle (AMC): Last Saturday they played the first six episodes leading up to the seventh episode. I recorded them and was able to catch up with this show. It is pretty fun. A group of con artists with a sort of conscience, they only take people that want something for nothing and have lots of money. No small time jobs here only the long con. If you haven’t been watching you should check it out. It is very good. Run 75 minutes.

Sports Notes

ABC has semifinal matches of the Accenture Match Play Championship. Not sure who is left in this one as Vijay, Tiger and Phil all lost yesterday. NBC has some Winter Games action during the day. ESPN has Duke at Temple in college hoops action followed by the 2006 Bassmaster fishing tournament that is followed by more college hoops with Iowa at Illinois and later Kansas at Texas.

Tonight on the Tube: American Idol, Winter Olympics and Lost Pilot Episode

by @ 6:48 am. Filed under Tonight on the Tube

Lost - The Complete First SeasonLast night on American Idol Simon was right there were four really great performances. I had Midnight Train to Georgia floating around in my head the rest of the night. That little Paris has great stage presence at such a young age. She came right out and grabbed the audience and kept them right through to the end. Tonight the guys show what they can do. Can’t wait to see what the ratings were for Idol with the ladies figure skating going on over on NBC. Should be interesting. I think that Idol probably out drew even the most watched and favorite event of the Winter Games. What do you think?

Prime Picks

American Idol (FOX): Tonight is the guys take center stage as the 12 perform and give the audience their first chance at voting. Runs two hours.

CSI: NY (CBX): Repeat where the owner of a doll hospital is killed and the team investigates. Pretty good yet kind of creepy episode with all those doll heads looking at you.

Solid Selections

XX Olympic Winter Games (NBC): The women’s slalom, freestyle aerials and 1500m speed skating finals also the men’s parallel giant slalom.

Other Options

George Lopez (ABC): George tries to teach his niece about hard work by getting her a job at the factory.
Still Standing (CBS): Judy attempt to get to a taping of Oprah but she reluctantly has to take her mother-in-law and things don’t go well.

Lost (ABC): Repeat of the two-hour pilot episode. If you haven’t seen how it all began here is your chance.

Cable Choices

Emeril Live (Food Network): Emeril gives a salute to dairy farmers.

Happy Gilmore (USA): This is one of my favorite Adam Sandler movies, probably because it revolves around golf. Runs two and a half hours.
