Tonight on the Tube: Bones, Lost, Heist and Veronica Mars

by @ 4:46 am. Filed under Tonight on the Tube

Veronica MarsWow it wasn’t too long ago that Wednesday nights kind of sucked but now the night is jam-packed from start to finish. The second hour of primetime may be the most competition with Lost, Veronica Mars, Criminal Minds and the American Idol results show. Not to mention the old standby Law & Order and the new WB show The Bedford Diaries. With Bones starting the night out there is actually something worth watching in the first hour of primetime. It will probably be a good thing that Veronica Mars will be moving to the second hour slot starting next Tuesday. Although with the new The Unit, House and Scrubs the spot isn’t much better. What will you be watching on your TV tonight?

Prime Picks

Bones (FOX): Bones and Booth head to the Arizona desert after Angela’s boyfriend goes missing.

Lost (ABC): They sure are promising a lot in the promos for tonight’s episode. Hope it lives up to the hype.

Heist (NBC): This show looks like it could be fun. The first episode wasn’t great but it left you feeling there was a lot of potential. Sort of a reverse Prison Break, as they are trying to get in somewhere, with a bit more of a sense of humor.

Solid Selections

Out of Practice (CBS): It is a little late for a Valentine’s Day episode but that is what happens when you put a show on hiatus while you try and launch other shows including the one that follows.
Courting Alex (CBS): The show just hasn’t quite gelled for me. It has a few funny bits here and there but something is missing but it is better than Freddie on ABC.

Veronica Mars (UPN): Wow this timeslot is packed so that is why they are moving this show back to Tuesday night like the first season. Not that there is all that much less competition then ether.

CSI: NY (CBS): The team searches for a helicopter that was carrying an organ that got hijacked leaving a patient in dire need.

Other Options

One Tree Hill (WB): The aftermath of the school shooting plays out. Wow that episode sure seems like a long time ago.

The Bedford Diaries (WB): New show that debuts tonight. I have heard it described as the unsexiest show about sex to be put on TV.

The Evidence (ABC): The gimmick of the evidence at the beginning doesn’t really do it for me. The buddy cop interaction could be fun once they have been doing it a while and are more familiar with each other. Overall the show was very jumpy, tossing you about with no real transitions.

Cable Choices

Emeril Live (Food Network): Repeat about Greek cooking.

World Poker Tour (Travel Channel): The final table of the Grand Prix de Paris. Runs two hours.

Sports Notes

ESPN has some NBA action with the Detroit Pistons at the Philadelphia 76ers followed by the 2006 McDonald All-American Game from San Diego where you can see the best high school basketball players in the country play. ESPN2 has another NBA game with the Utah Jazz at the Denver Nuggets.

Hope & Faith (ABC): It is a new episode. That is about the only reason.

Scrubs (NBC): Carla is pregnant and somehow Turk finds out before she does.
Teachers (NBC): Series Premiere. The premise sounds funny but as usual it is in the execution where these shows seem to go wrong. Sarah Alexander (Coupling) plays one of the teachers.

The Amazing Race 9 (CBS): The teams are in Italy.

Cable Choices

Wrecks to Riches (TLC): A father tries to turn his daughters car into a showpiece in just four weeks.

Overhaulin’ (TLC): A GTO is restored for a man who is paralyzed from the waist down.

Tonight on the Tube: Prison Break, 24, Everwood and Old Christine

by @ 4:17 am. Filed under Tonight on the Tube

Everwood: Original Television SoundtrackEverwood finally makes it back on the WB schedule with two shows tonight. This is one of the best dramas on TV too bad it might not make the leap to the new CW network next fall. Two networks become one, the WB and UPN. Yet they will be keeping the same broadcasting schedule as the WB presently has time wise. That leaves you presently with almost two times too many shows for roughly have as many hours of broadcast time. This is one show that is on the bubble that I hope would make the cut at the CW. I say they should expand their nightly time to three hours like the big three networks and fill them with the best shows from both networks and new shows in the pipeline and see what they can do with there being less competition for the young viewers attention.

Prime Picks

Prison Break (FOX): As last we left them Lincoln was standing outside the execution chamber and Veronica and Michael were in the witness room. What is going to happen next?

24 (FOX): Speaking of what is going to happen next. What is going to happen next as Jack interrogates the woman he is still in love with?

Heist (NBC): Pretty good show. Shows some real potential for being a fun ride. This is a repeat of the series premiere from last Wednesday.

Solid Selections

Everwood (WB): One of the best family dramas on television returns tonight with back-to-back episodes. I really hope this makes it to the new CW once the WB and UPN finish their merger. Tonight Ephram and Amy must decide where to go with their relationship.

Everwood (WB): Many conflicts arise with Amy and Hannah and Harold and Rose consider adopting a child from Africa.

CSI: Miami (CBS): Repeat where a bunch of video gamers have started playing the game for real.

Other Options

The King of Queens (CBS): Repeat a pretty funny episode with Doug and Carrie visiting a bed and breakfast full of strange people.
How I Met Your Mother (CBS): Repeat of the wedding episode where Ted meets Victoria for the first time but doesn’t get her number.

Two and a Half Men (CBS): Repeat where Charlie ends up seeing a therapist. Very funny seen with the stalker neighbor if I remember correctly.
The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS): Not a bad comedy with some potential as the cast gels a little more. We shall see how it does as the only new episode of any show on CBS tonight.

Miracle Workers (ABC): An 11 year old boy gets a corneal transplant.

Cable Choices

Wildfire (ABC Family): Kris tries to get Wildfire and invitation to the Breeders’ Cup.

Beautiful People (ABC Family): A new place to live needs to be found and a boyfriend seems too good to be true.

Pros vs. Joes (Spike TV): Could you get a hit off of John Rocker or out shoot Clyde Drexler? Find out if these contestants can.

Sports Notes

ESPN has a couple of regional final games from the NCAA Women’s Tournament tonight.
