NBC Reworks Their Fall 2006 TV Schedule

by @ 3:53 pm. Filed under Network TV, TV Talk

That is right just a week or so later and NBC is juggling things around. ABC scheduled Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday nights in the same timeslot as CSI on CBS. This put two ratings winners up against Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. So, NBC (read the press release) decided they better make some changes.

The big changes are that Studio 60 will be on Monday nights and Medium will be waiting in the midseason wings. Crossing Jordan, which was awaiting a midseason placement in the schedule, will now kick off Friday nights starting in the fall. The biggest change is that Law & Order will be moving from Wednesday to Friday nights.

So what does the reworked NBC 2006 Fall TV Schedule look like?

Sunday
Football Night in America – Pre-game studio show hosted by Bob Costas.
Sunday Night Football – New Network formerly on ESPN
In January after football season the new America’s Got Talent hosted by Regis Philbin and created by Simon Cowell will start followed by The Apprentice. Capping the night off with the new detective show Raines.

Monday
Deal or No Deal
Heroes – New Drama. Young beautiful people discover they have superpowers with which they must save the world.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip – The new Aaron Sorkin dramedy replaces Medium on Monday night. Medium waits until midseason to find a new home.

Tuesday
Friday Night Lights – New Drama. Based on the film by the same name.
Law & Order: Criminal Intent – The new show Kidnapped moves to the old Law & Order timeslot on Wednesday nights.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

Wednesday
20 Good Years – New half-hour comedy. Stars John Lithgow (3rd Rock from the Sun) and Jeffery Tambor (Arrested Development).
30 Rock – New half-hour comedy from Tina Fey (Saturday Night Live, Mean Girls). She will write, produce and star in the show.
The Biggest Loser
Kidnapped - New Drama. Follow the family, cops and kidnappers as the teenage son of a wealthy family is taken. Replaces Law & Order, which moves to Friday.

Thursday
My Name Is Earl – New timeslot.
The Office – New timeslot.
Deal or No Deal – Talk about counter programming. Was going to be the new home of Studio 60.
ER – New episodes leading to a cliffhanger in December. In January/February The Black Donnellys take over this timeslot with ER returning in March to finish out the season.

Friday
Crossing Jordan
Las Vegas
Law & Order – New night and timeslot. Was going to be Law & Order: CI.

Saturday
Dateline Saturday
Repeats of NBC Dramas

The only nights that remain unchanged are Saturday and Sunday. Every other night had a little movement. What do you think of the changes? Do you think Studio 60 on Monday will be a good move? How about Law & Order on Friday night?
