Helping You Find the Prime in Primetime
What else can we pair up with a semi-famous person for a reality series? Dancing seems to work. Skating didn’t do all that bad. Cooking was a disaster. How about the Last Comic Celebrity Duo Standing? It takes a famous comedian or at least one who works regularly and pairs them with a celebrity who we didn’t know was all that funny. The one who becomes the best standup wins and gets a donation to their favorite charity. Would you watch? At least it would be funny on purpose, well maybe.
Veronica Mars (UPN): Repeat. Veronica is asked by a classmate to track down the car that hit his dog and finds out some info on the bus crash in the process.
Veronica Mars (UPN): Repeat. Gia wants Veronica to figure out who her stalker is.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC): Repeat. A high school student from Montreal goes missing.
Celebrity Duets (FOX): New. Take a professional singer and pair them with actor or actress that can sing but it not known for it. It is singing with the stars from producer Simon Cowell. Runs two hours.
Primetime (ABC): New. A look at the Amish is the story of the night.
Dead Like Me (Sci Fi): Repeat. The reapers take a day off to do some paperwork.
Eureka (Sci Fi): New. A new super drug is introduced but has severe side effects.
Rescue Me (FX): Season Finale. Tommy promises to help Janet with the baby even as he prepares to start a new life with Sheila. Some of the crew prepares to leave the firehouse. Runs 64 minutes and plays twice.
Does Celebrity Duets sound interesting to you? Will you be watching?
It was a year ago today that I posted the first post here at TVaholic. I really can’t believe it has been a whole year. A lot of TV shows have been watched and posts written since then.
It started out with a few ramblings about the end of the summer TV season and thoughts of the new fall season ahead. Then I started posting nightly recommendations for what is worth watching tonight on the tube. I am only a few days away of having posted one everyday for a year. Next came reviews of some of the new shows that premiered. Soon the writing expanded to other topics like TV shows on DVD and most recently Ask the TVaholic where you can get your TV questions answered.

Here’s to another year, hopefully big and better than the one before.
With last night’s Emmys I don’t have too much of a problem with them as it seemed that the deserving got to take home the gear. Except for Kyra Sedgewick who I still think should have won for best actress in a drama. Tony Shalhoub won for Monk again, which given his competition should have been the lock of the night. Not that the other four aren’t funny but Tony Shalhoub is actually acting. The other four are just basically playing a version of themselves, aren’t they? In TV news for tonight if you have missed an episode of Kyle XY this summer you can catch a marathon of the season’s episodes today on ABC Family leading up to the season finale. For news about the upcoming TV season look no further than the Ultimate Guide to the Fall 2006 TV Schedule.
Prison Break (FOX): New. Michael and Lincoln plan another breakout, this time to get Linc’s son out during a court appearance. The rest of the gang heads out on their own while Tweener tries blending in with the college crowd.
Vanished (FOX): New. The first episode left a little to be desired. Supposedly the big conspiracy behind everything has a little light shed on it in this episode. It better as the premiere was pretty standard.
CSI: Miami (CBS): Repeat. Horatio learns what really happened to his brother.
Two and a Half Men (CBS): Repeat. Rose tries to help Charlie and Alan out when they start taking their frustrations out on each other.
How I Met Your Mother (CBS): Repeat. Lily and Robin crash a prom so she can hear the band that Marshall wants to hire for the wedding.
Two and a Half Men (CBS): Repeat. It is Jake’s first boy girl party and Charlie and Alan try to help him get ready.
The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS): Repeat. Christine doesn’t want Richard to take Ritchie to a rock concert.
Medium (NBC): Repeat. Allison is asked to help find out who killed a woman that had complained that her house was haunted.
Kyle XY (ABC Family): Season Finale. Is that couple his real parents? Kyle doesn’t think so and Declan does a little digging on his own to find out. Kyle gets some info from Tom Foss and declares that he is leaving to go with the couple. They are definitely going to leave you hanging until season two. Plays again later.
The Closer (TNT): New. It turns out “No Good Deed†does go unpunished. Plays again later.
Saved (TNT): New. Wyatt steps up tonight to take the fall for the clinic explosion incident. Plays again later.
ABC Family has the complete 10-episode season of Kyle XY today with the last episode being tonight’s season finale.
What will you be watching on TV tonight?

Many a TV fan out there is trying to find out if some of their favorite shows from last season will be back for the 2006 fall primetime schedule. Well I have …
Is 7th Heaven really back for another season?
Yes, it really is coming back for an 11th season that will begin Monday Sept. 25th. The show should have ended in my opinion with last season. It will be interesting to find out how they deal with all the women on the show being pregnant with twins. Do you think this show should have been brought back?
Is Supernatural going to make any shows this fall for 2006?
Yes, Supernatural will have new shows this fall. Look for it after Smallville on The CW each Thursday night starting Sept. 28th. You may also be interested to know that the first season of Supernatural comes out on DVD on Sept. 5th.
Will the TV show NCIS be on this fall 2006?
Yes, NCIS will again be leading off Tuesday night this fall for CBS beginning Sept. 19th. The Unit and the new series Smith will follow it.
Is Close to Home on CBS coming back in the fall?
Yes, Close to Home will be back this fall. Once again you will find it Friday nights starting on Sept. 22nd sandwiched between the less than stellar Ghost Whisperer and the really good Numb3rs on CBS.
Did any network pick Invasion up for a second season?
Unfortunately, no other network picked up Invasion, which was a very good show. There were rumors that maybe the new CW would pick it up or maybe Sci Fi Channel but alas none of them came true. However you can now see William Fichtner (Sheriff Tom Underlay) on FOX in the new season of Prison Break as the FBI agent tracking down the escapees and soon you can see Eddie Cibrian (Russell Varon), also as an FBI agent, on the new FOX show Vanished. You may also see Kari Matchett (Mariel Underlay) in the series Heartland if TNT picks it up. The Invasion complete series recently came out on DVD.
Has the TV show Surface been saved on NBC?
No, unfortunately we won’t get to see anymore of Lake Bell swimming with a dangerous new species. Well at least not in this show. The Surface complete series also recently came out on DVD.
Was Everwood picked up for the 2006 fall primetime schedule?
No it was not. They renewed, the not as good and should of ended last season, 7th Heaven instead. Although look for Treat Williams (Dr. Andy Brown) in the similarly themed new TNT series Heartland if it gets picked up. Also look for Chris Pratt (Bright Abbot) in a multi-episode story arc on The OC this season and Debra Mooney (Edna Harper) in the upcoming Lifetime original movie The Mermaid Chair based on the popular novel. You can get the first season of Everwood on DVD
but do to lackluster sales of the set you probably won’t be seeing anymore of the series on DVD anytime soon.
