Tonight on the Tube: The Office, Grey’s Anatomy, Men in Trees and Scrubs Returns

by @ 6:32 am. Filed under Tonight on the Tube

Scrubs - The Complete Fourth SeasonTonight you will find Men in Trees in its new timeslot following Grey’s Anatomy on ABC and over on NBC you will find that Scrubs has been put back on the air. The more I look at the new NBC Thursday night lineup, the more I start to think “Must-See TV” might actually be back. The Office has become one of my favorite all time comedies and Scrubs already was and now they will be together on the same night with the solid My Name Is Earl and the very good newcomer 30 Rock. Together they make one really exceptional two-hour comedy block. What will you be watching on Thursday nights now that the schedule has been shuffled up a bit?

Prime Picks

My Name Is Earl (NBC): New. Earl decides to help an old classmate become more of a man by teaching him to gamble.
The Office (NBC): New. Michael finds out that a new employee is and ex-con and tries to be supportive as only he can.

Patrick has a tough decision on where he is going to spend the Thanksgiving holiday this year with a new family and his girlfriend on opposite sides of the choice.

Solid Selections

Ugly Betty (ABC): New. Amanda tries to get Betty’s job while Betty is thinking about her relationships and feelings.

Scrubs (NBC): Season Premiere. The sixth season begins with J.D trying to imagine what it will be like to be a father and Dr. Cox starts to think that his being upset all the time may have bad consequences down the road.

ER (NBC): New. Dr. Pratt is having trouble after finding out about his brother while Kovac deals with Curtis Ames.

Has the TV show Men in Trees been cancelled? And More of Your TV Show Questions

by @ 7:55 pm. Filed under TV Questions Answered

Update 4-26-2007: Find out what is going on with Men in Trees and the Thursday night lineup on ABC.
Update 5-5-2008: Has Men in Trees been cancelled?

Today we have one question sent in via email and six others that were searched for recently. I am looking for a little help with the question of what was playing on Abby’s iPod during the Thanksgiving night episode of ER. The other questions with answers were people wondering if the TV show Men in Trees had been cancelled, who played the pregnant woman on Two and a Half Men a couple of weeks ago, who plays Barb on The New Adventures of Old Christine, whether or not Prison Break had its final episode, if The King of Queens is coming back and how many brothers and sisters Alec Baldwin has.

Rachel asked: On the 11/23/06 episode of ER, What song was playing on Abby’s iPod???? Please help. It’s driving me crazy!!
This question was emailed in right after last week’s episode of ER. Unfortunately this is one show I don’t watch anymore and even though it was a special, Abby saves a person on a bus about to fall over a cliff, episode I didn’t watch it or record it and NBC doesn’t have full episode replays of ER at its Rewind site and I haven’t been able to find a reference to the scene she is asking about online anywhere, as of yet. So, I don’t have the foggiest idea what the song was and am asking for help on this one. If anybody out there watched the “Scoop and Run” episode of ER on Thanksgiving night and knows what the song was, Rachel would very much appreciate it and so would I because there are enough crazy people out there as it is. We don’t need another one driven there.

Who played the pregnant woman Naomi on Two and a Half Men?
The actress who played Naomi, the pregnant daughter of Berta, on Two and a Half Men was Sara Rue. You may remember her as the lead on the ABC sitcom Less than Perfect or before that, as one of the “Glamazons” on the short-lived show Popular on The WB.

Who plays Barb on the TV show The New Adventures of Old Christine?
Christine’s friend, and now partner in the women’s gym, Barb is played by Wanda Sykes. You may have seen her doing stand-up comedy or as Larry David’s wife Cheryl’s friend Wanda on the HBO show Curb Your Enthusiasm or as the personal assistant to Jane Fonda’s character in the movie Monster-in-Law.

Does the final episode of Prison Break come on tonight?
This question was searched for on Monday, which makes the answer a sort of yes. Sort of, as in, it was the final episode until the show returns Monday, January 22nd for the remainder of the second season. It was originally schedule to come back in early March but FOX has decided to move the return date up a few weeks. You can see the episode again, or the two before that, at the FOX TV section of MySpace. For access to the whole season or you can download episodes at Amazon Unbox or Apple iTunes.

Is The King of Queens coming back for another season?
Yes, The King of Queens returns to CBS on Wednesday, December 6th and will take over the timeslot of Jericho after it bows out for a few weeks and returns on February 14th to play the rest of the season straight through without repeats like Prison Break and Lost are also doing. I wish they would just put this back on Monday nights in place of the mostly unfunny The Class.

How many brothers and sisters does Alec Baldwin have?
According to his IMDb bio page he has three brothers: William Baldwin, Stephen Baldwin and Daniel Baldwin and two sisters: Jane Sasso and Elizabeth Keuchler.

Has the TV show Men in Trees been cancelled?
No, Men in Trees has not been cancelled. In fact, ABC has picked it up for the season. However, it will no longer be on Friday nights, as of this Thursday it moves to its new timeslot after Grey’s Anatomy.
Update 3-7-2007: Read the Ask the TVaholic column from March 7th, 2007.
Update 3-29-2007: Read the March 29th Tonight on the Tube post for the latest on ABC’s Men in Trees.
Update 4-26-2007: It looks like it won’t be back this season, but it will be back. Get the details.
Update 5-5-2008: Find out if Men in Trees has been cancelled.

Do you have a TV show question? Then Ask the TVaholic or leave it in the comments. Also, if you know the answer to Rachel’s question above about what Abby was listening to on her iPod during the Thanksgiving night episode of ER, please leave it in the comments, as well. Thanks

New TV Show DVDs: Bones, Criminal Minds, Joan of Arcadia and More

by @ 7:19 pm. Filed under New On Tuesday, TV Shows on DVD

A Power Rangers Mystic Force had come over Ellen. It was the exact opposite of being Touched by an Angel and it shook her to her Bones, as it turned her into one of those Girls Behaving Badly and soured her Flavor of Love. She wished that she were St. Elsewhere, hanging out with her friend Joan of Arcadia at her Little House on the Prairie. Even though Joan was one of the most annoying people on the planet, it would’ve been like 7th Heaven compared to what was happening to her right now. She was being sent on a mission by one of the most evil Criminal Minds in the country to put and end to Jamie Kennedy. The Thundercats had been called in for extra security but had not yet arrived when someone yelled, “Jamie Kennedy’s Blowin’ Up!” And sure enough, he was. The scene was so horrifying that forevermore when asked, Are You Afraid of The Dark? The answer would be a definite, yes!

Prime TV Show DVD Pick

Joan of Arcadia - The Second SeasonJoan of Arcadia - The Second Season
The second season was the last for Joan of Arcadia. CBS cancelled it for the unwatchable Ghost Whisperer. This was the season where Joan started to see that what was happening to her was for a reason. They set up a struggle between her and someone of a darker nature to go up against, which would have happened in the third season had there been one. At its basics this was a family drama and a really good one at that. The stories they told and the caliber of actors they had telling them were outstanding. While you may be left hanging a bit by the end of this season the episodes that get you there are worth watching even if they weren’t quite up to season one. The DVD set has all 22 season two episodes on six discs. Special features include commentaries on select episodes, a tour of the high school and a look at season two featurette.
