Tonight on the Tube: Brothers & Sisters, Sleeper Cell, Dexter and Tsunami

Sleeper Cell - First Season on DVDThe second Sleeper Cell miniseries begins tonight on Showtime, as does the two-part Tsunami movie on HBO. Dexter realizes how close he has been to the Ice Truck Killer all this time on Showtime while The Wire on HBO ends its fourth season. Many a Christmas movie is shown on cable as well as many a meaningful football game is played, while That Girl continues to play on TV Land all day. There is much to watch and even more to TiVo or to get via on Demand from your cable service. What will you be watching tonight on the tube?

Prime Picks

The Simpsons (FOX): New. Bart convinces all his friends not to go to Nelson’s birthday party but is then forced to go himself by Marge.
American Dad (FOX): Repeat. Just something to occupy your TV screen until something really worth watching comes on. Really you should just go grab a snack or something after The Simpsons or flip over and see how Saints are doing versus the Cowboys on NBC.

Cold Case (CBS): New. Lilly and Scotty have to travel to Tennessee while investigating the 2000 murder of a country music singer.

Brothers & Sisters (ABC): While trying to get back the money their dad had appropriated to save the company Sarah, Tommy and Saul make a mistake while Nora seems to be overcompensating a bit for the holidays.

Solid Selections

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (ABC): New. Two hours of tear jerking goodness as the team rebuilds a wheelchair accessible house for a police officer that was shot by gang members.

Without a Trace (CBS): New. After hitting the winning shot to send his basketball team to the championship game a star high school basketball player disappears.

Cable Choices

Emeril Live (Food Network): Repeat. Get some tasty holiday recipes.

Sleeper Cell: American Terror (Showtime): Premiere. The first of eight episodes of this second miniseries plays tonight with episodes every night for the next week. It begins a bit after the previous one ended, as a new sleeper cell in Los Angeles is uncovered. If you can’t wait that long and have Showtime on Demand you should be able to watch any of the eight episodes beginning tonight.

Dexter (Showtime): New. It looks like Dexter will finally figure out who the Ice Truck Killer really is.

Other Options

  • Iron Chef America (Food Network): New. Watch as Iron Chef Cat Cora takes on Chef Walter Royal.
  • Nip/Tuck (FX): Repeat. Last week’s episode, “Willy Ward,” replays. Runs 65 minutes.
  • Reba (The CW): New. Reba and Van decide to end their partnership while Barbara Jean tries to become the new weather girl at a local station. Plays right before a new 7th Heaven and after a Reba repeat.
  • Tsunami, the Aftermath (HBO): Released 2006. Part 1 of 2 of this miniseries where the survivors try to put their lives back together after the tsunami that devastated Thailand back in December 2004. Part 2 plays next Sunday.
  • What’s With That Christmas House? (HGTV): New. See houses where homeowners have gone all out for the holiday season.
  • The Wire (HBO): Season Finale. Burrell offers to support Daniels while Bubbles’ plan doesn’t pan out and Colvin attempts to get Namond off of the streets.

Sports Notes

  • ABC has the final round of the Barbados World Cup golf tournament.
  • CBS has NFL games today with Denver Broncos at the San Diego Chargers the top game of the day.
  • ESPN has college basketball with LSU at Texas.
  • ESPN2 has college football with the second NCAA Division II semifinal match-up.
  • FOX has NFL games with the game of the day being the Seattle Seahawks at the Arizona Cardinals as the Seahawks try to keep pace with the winner of the Sunday night match-up over on NBC.
  • NBC has Sunday Night Football with the New Orleans Saints at the Dallas Cowboys. The winner will be in the drivers seat for second place behind the Chicago Bears in the NFC.

TV Marathons

ABC Family has Christmas movies all day long and ends the day with two showings of the new Santa Baby starring Jenny McCarthy.
Bravo has eight episodes of Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Hallmark Channel has Christmas themed movies much of the day.
Lifetime also has made-for-TV Christmas movies most of the day.
TV Land continues their That Girl weekend with episodes continuing to play all day.
