24: Seasons Four and Five SoundtrackCan you hear the clock ticking? I can and I can’t wait to see what is in store for Jack Bauer as Day 6 begins tonight with the first two hours of the show. Then we get another two tomorrow and then we have to sit back and wait for a whole week before we get another hour of 24. Twenty months will have passed since the Chinese took Jack captive. Wayne Palmer is now the President and terrorists have once again attacked with more planned. What will they do? Who will be playing both sides? How many people will Jack do away with? Will Chloe make a funny face? All these questions and more will begin to be answered tonight on 24. Will you be watching?

Prime Picks

24 (FOX): Season Premiere. Jack is back as his sixth really bad day begins tonight. When terrorists attack, President Wayne Palmer and his advisors must act. I can’t wait. We get two hours tonight and two more tomorrow and at the end of each we will be wanting more but having to wait a week to get it.

Crossing Jordan (NBC): Season Premiere. Jordan is finally back but still on the run after being accused of murdering her ex. A new medical examiner is brought in to prove that she is guilty. It will be nice to have her back on as this show was supposed to come on back in the fall.

Solid Selections

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (ABC): New. A family who is currently living in the grandmother’s attic is given some new digs.

Desperate Housewives (ABC): New. The pizzeria is starting to have trouble and it hasn’t even opened yet while Gaby finds out whom her secret admirer is. Runs 61 minutes.

Brothers & Sisters (ABC): New. Kitty and Nora are having second thoughts after an executive matchmaker talks them into using his services.

Cable Choices

Emeril Live (Food Network): New. Emeril delights in chicken tonight.

Iron Chef America (Food Network): Repeat. See Iron Chef Bobby Flay take on Chef Morou.

Dirt (FX): Repeat. Last Tuesday’s episode, “Blogan,” replays. Runs 66 minutes.

Other Options

  • Cold Case (CBS): New. The head of a wealthy family was found dead back in 1998 and ruled an accident but new direction gets Lily to reopen the case.
  • Extras (HBO): Season Premiere. The second season of this Ricky Gervais (BBC’s The Office) vehicle kicks off tonight with guest star Orlando Jones (The Evidence, MADtv) as himself.
  • Rome (HBO): Season Premiere. The second and final season of this HBO Original begins tonight.
  • Without a Trace (CBS): New. A guy who enters eating competitions for a living goes missing after chili eating contest.

Sports Notes

  • CBS has college basketball with Illinois at Michigan State followed by the New England Patriots at the San Diego Chargers in NFL Playoff action.
  • ESPN has golf with day two of the Champions Skins Game and later has college football action with the Hula Bowl.
  • ESPN2 has tennis with early rounds coverage of day 1 of the Australian Open.
  • FOX has an NFL Playoff game between my hometown Seattle Seahawks and the Chicago Bears in snowy and cold Chicago, although if they were playing here the weather would be exactly the same.
  • Golf Channel has the final round of the Sony Open in Hawaii.
  • NBA TV has the Denver Nuggets at the Portland Trailblazers.

TV Marathons

Bravo has eight episodes of Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
USA has 14 episodes of Monk on today to get you ready for the master detectives return on January 19th.
