Occasionally, I like to clarify how Tonight on the Tube is laid out. So, here goes. Prime Picks are what TVaholic thinks are your best bet for each hour of primetime on the five major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and The CW). Solid Selections are your second best bet on the networks. Cable Choices are your best bet on cable for each hour of primetime. Other Options are shows listed alphabetically that sound interesting or look good from both network TV and cable. Sports Notes are pretty self-explanatory. So, if you were looking to watch something in the second hour of primetime tonight? TVaholic’s recommendations would be Las Vegas or secondarily Close to Home on network TV and Monk on cable. Also of note, is that just because something is posted, as a Pick, Selection or Choice doesn’t mean it is a great show, just that it is the best bet given what else is on TV that night during that hour. For example, TVaholic doesn’t particularly care for 1 vs. 100 but thinks it is the second best viewing option in the first hour of primetime on network TV tonight.
Grey’s Anatomy (ABC): Repeat. This is Part 1 of 3, which aired last night. The interns face a crisis like no other they have ever seen. It was a very slow but pretty good setup for the three-episode story arc they are telling. Runs 61 minutes.
Las Vegas (NBC): New. A world-famous mummy exhibit goes missing in route to the Montecito and Ed, Danny, Mike and Delinda must get it back before it is noticed.
Numb3rs (CBS): New. The badge of a long missing LAPD officer turns up at a construction site and the case is reopened. Don and Liz get a little closer.
1 vs. 100 (NBC): New. People take on the mob and try and win money.
Close to Home (CBS): New. While investigating the murder of a college student the D.A.’s uncovers an illegal gambling ring.
Law & Order (NBC): New. An outspoken minister is the main suspect when a gay actor is found dead.
Emeril Live (Food Network): Repeat. Emeril cooks with chocolate, chocolate and chocolate.
Monk (USA): New. Lt. Disher inherits a farm from his uncle after an apparent suicide but he isn’t so sure about that and invites Monk and Natalie to stay on the farm and help him figure out what really happened. Plays again later.
Psych (USA): New. Shawn is interested in a case and goes to work for the defense when a well-known weatherman is killed the night of a secret tryst. Plays again later.
- Giada’ Weekend Getaways (Food Network): New. Giada visits Santa Fe, NM.
