Tonight on the Tube: American Idol Rocks Out, Veronica Mars is Back and The Shield

Idol Gives Back Performances on iTunesThe best news tonight is that Veronica Mars is back with new episodes. It seems like it has been forever. In other news, it has been announced by Sci Fi Channel that the quirky and fun Eureka is scheduled to begin its second season on Tuesday, July 10th. Also, tonight we should find out how much was raised with the “Idol Gives Back” campaign.

Prime Picks

American Idol (FOX): New. The final six get a little help from Jon Bon Jovi and two get kicked off the show after last week’s reprieve during “Idol Gives Back.” Who do you think will rock? Too bad Gina isn’t still around this week.

House (FOX): New. A boy in need of a bone marrow transplant is scheduled to get one from his brother until it is learn that the brother is too sick to donate. Did you know that House is one of the most DVRed shows on TV?

Boston Legal (ABC): New. It is Clarence against Jerry in a case of a Sorority kicking an awkward girl out of the sisterhood. That should be quite the battle, especially if Oprah shows up.

Solid Selections

NCIS (CBS): New. A petty officer has been killed and the team gets some help from a blind photographer.

Veronica Mars (The CW): New. Yea! Veronica is back and it has been way too long. I hope these last few episodes aren’t the last we see of her. Tonight, Veronica is hired by the owner of a Middle Eastern restaurant that has been dealing with vandalism, to find out who is responsible for it.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC): New. Benson’s career is in jeopardy when she inserts herself in case regarding her brother.

Cable Choices

Jake 2.0 (Sci Fi): Repeat. Jake is tasked with protecting a Nobel Prize winner. Another episode plays right before and right after this one for a total of three episodes tonight.

Jake 2.0 (Sci Fi): Repeat. Jake is once again protecting someone from assassins.

The Shield (FX): New. Vic finds out that he might have killed the wrong guy for Lem’s murder. Runs 64 minutes and plays again later after an episode of The Riches.

Other Options

  • Gilmore Girls (The CW): New. Lorelai tries to take Rori’s mind of things with much eating and shopping and then a little karaoke.
  • The Unit (CBS): New. When a parachute malfunctions the priorities of a mission change in a hurry.

Sports Notes

  • TNT has an NBA Playoff doubleheader with the New Jersey Nets at the Toronto Raptors and then the Golden State Warriors at the Dallas Mavericks.
  • Versus has hockey action with an NHL Playoff doubleheader.

Late Night

  • Painkiller Jane (Sci Fi): Repeat. Sunday’s episode, “Piece of Mind,” replays.
  • The Riches (FX): Repeat. Last night’s episode, “X Marks the Spot,” replays. Runs 62 minutes.

Oxygen has 21 episodes of The Bad Girls Club.
Sci Fi has eight episodes of Stargate SG-1.
