The CW Announces Their Fall 2007 TV Schedule

The CW announced their Fall 2007 TV Schedule, which includes three new dramas, one comedy, two newsmagazine style shows and two unscripted shows. The three dramas, the comedies and the newsmagazines premiere in the fall. NBC put their schedule out on Monday, ABC went on Tuesday, CBS was yesterday and FOX also announced theirs today.

Update 8-21-2007: Check out the Ultimate Guide to the Fall 2007 TV Schedule.

The interesting thing about The CW’s schedule is that they kept One Tree Hill and decided to fast forward the story to after college, but cancelled Veronica Mars, which wanted to do the same thing. I am not sure what it is about One Tree Hill, but it has outlasted Everwood and Veronica Mars, both of which were superior shows.

The CW seems to want to become the reality channel, as they have skewed their lineup in that direction. Beauty and the Geek, America’s Next Top Model and The Pussycat Dolls are all returning with Farmer Wants a Wife and Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants. Not to mention their two newsmagazine shows that will compete with 60 Minutes on CBS, America’s Funniest Home Videos on ABC, Dateline NBC and King of the Hill and American Dad of FOX, after football, on Sunday nights.

So, what does the new The CW Fall 2007 Schedule look like?

Sunday

Online Nation – Newsmagazine style show that will play clips of the latest in online viral video.

Other The CW Fall 2007 TV Schedule Info

One Tree Hill won’t be back until midseason, which means January or later, but will run pretty much straight through with out any repeats or weeks off. It will jump ahead in the story to after college, which will allow all the actors to play much closer to their actual ages. At somepoint, The CW will be posting journals online that will tell what happened to these characters during college. They will also be able to go back and tell some of that via flashbacks as part of the show. Also returning in midseason is The Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll.

The The CW shows that won’t be returning are 7th Heaven, All of Us, Gilmore Girls, Reba, Runaway and Veronica Mars.

New shows waiting in the wings are the mother-daughter beauty pageant, Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants and Farmer Wants a Wife, a more rural version of The Bachelor.

The show that sounds interesting to the TVaholic at this point is Reaper, but not really. I am a little out of their desired demographic, but it looks like I will be down to watching just Smallville on The CW.
