Tonight on the Tube: So You Think You Can Dance On the Lot of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

Get Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip Episodes at iTunesTonight is the season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance on FOX. NBC has the return of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Next week, Pirate Master on CBS has its series premiere. Thursday nights have been the biggest night of the week this past season, but for the summer, it is pretty quiet. The only other show for the summer is Burn Notice on USA, which doesn’t begin until June 28th. Last night pretty much closed out the regular TV season. The only new episodes left are the season finales of Boston Legal and House next Tuesday.

Prime Picks

So You Think You Can Dance (FOX): Season Premiere. The New York auditions are shown. Runs 65 minutes.

On the Lot (FOX): New. Fifty made it to Hollywood out of 12,000. Sixteen were cut by the end of the first episode after having to make a pitch. Now they are put in groups of three and asked to write, film and edit a 2½ minutes short film in just 24 hours. The 36 remaining will be cut down to 18 before the real competition begins. This sounded like a good idea, but it started off kind of week and slow. It doesn’t give you any ability to develop any connection with the wannabe directors. You want to have a rooting interest and with out bad singers to make you laugh for the first few shows, they need to let you get to know some of these people. Did you watch the first episode on Tuesday? What did you think?

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (NBC): New. This is the first of the final six episodes of this show. Tonight the show heads for disaster when the cue-card holders and prop masters go on a last minute strike. I actually really liked this show and am looking forward to how they wrap things up. Are you? Starts five minutes into the third hour of primetime.
