What About Brian, What About Songs & More TV Questions Answered

by @ 7:25 pm. Filed under TV Questions Answered

Alias - The Complete Fifth SeasonSeven more question from TV fans, which includes wanting to know: What About Brian and if he will be back, if Reba was cancelled, a whole bunch about the final season of Alias, when the season 3 Lost finale might replay, who won American Idol and what were those songs playing at the end of The King of Queens and Law & Order: SVU in the finale episodes? So, without further ado…

Kate asked: I was wondering if you knew if the show What About Brian was picked up for next season? I loved it and saw the finale but you never know…
ABC announced their Fall 2007 TV Schedule last week and What About Brian didn’t make the cut. October Road will fill the vacated Monday timeslot after the fall run of The Bachelor ends. Barry Watson, who played Brian, will be back on ABC in the comedy Sam I Am with Christina Applegate. Also, Sarah Lancaster, who played Marjorie, will be in the new show Chuck on NBC.

Mary asked: Has the TV Series Reba been cancelled?
Yes, the last two episodes of Reba aired on February 18th, 2007. It was almost cancelled at the end of last season, its fifth, when UPN and The WB merged to become The CW, but it was brought back for a shortened 13-episode sixth season, which ended up being its last.

Mei asked: Hi, I am hoping for my sanity’s sake that you will be able to find the answers to the following questions about Alias:

  1. Why was/what was the real reason why Vaughn was initially assigned to Sydney when she belonged to SD6?
  2. What really happened to Vaughn’s mother?
  3. Who was Vaughn’s mother?
  4. What happened to Will Tippin after he fought Ana Espinosa with Sydney in the second last episode?
  5. What happened to the rescue/medical attention/helicopter that was supposed to arrive for Jack when he was shot in the final episode?
  6. What happened to Peyton after Sydney interrogated her in the 2nd last or last episode?

You will be the most wonderful person in this world if you answered these questions for me, and you would have save my sanity. Thanks so much.
Wow, that is a whole lot of questions about Alias. While I am the TVaholic and am full of useless knowledge about TV shows, it has been a while since Alias ended and many of these escape me. Looking at all your questions, I am about to lose my sanity. So, in an attempt to save your sanity without losing my own, here are a few suggestions:

Douglas asked: When will the two-hour Lost finale episode re-run or repeat? For some reason only a little over one hour of it recorded on my VHS…so I’ve missed the ending.
Well, most likely it won’t replay until sometime near the end of the summer or the week before the next season starts, which isn’t until late January or early February of 2008. You can watch the season 3 finale of Lost via streaming video at ABC.com. Or, you can download the Lost Season 3 Finale at iTunes.

April asked: Who emerged as the winner of American Idol Season 6?
Jordin Sparks beat out Blake Lewis for the title of American Idol in the largest vote to date, a total of more than 74 million.

Janel asked: What was the name/artist of the song played on the series finale of The King of Queens during the ending montage?
The song is called “Milk & Honey” by Million Billion. It can be found on their album Ready. Fire. Aim. Or, you can get it at iTunes.

Bob asked: Who sang the song at the end of the Law and Order: SVU season finale 2007? It sounded like an Irish girl singing.
Actually, it was a Welsh woman. The song is called “Sense of Touch” and is by composer Mark Isham. It is from the movie Crash and can be found on the Crash score soundtrack. Or, you can get it at iTunes. According to this interview with Mark Isham, the woman’s name is Carol Ensley, who “at the time of the recording, lived in Wales, and was like the grandmother of the town, who knew all of the local songs. She was not a professional at all, and just used to sing these songs to grandchildren.”

Tonight on the Tube: So You Think You Can Dance On the Lot of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

by @ 5:38 am. Filed under Tonight on the Tube

Get Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip Episodes at iTunesTonight is the season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance on FOX. NBC has the return of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Next week, Pirate Master on CBS has its series premiere. Thursday nights have been the biggest night of the week this past season, but for the summer, it is pretty quiet. The only other show for the summer is Burn Notice on USA, which doesn’t begin until June 28th. Last night pretty much closed out the regular TV season. The only new episodes left are the season finales of Boston Legal and House next Tuesday.

Prime Picks

So You Think You Can Dance (FOX): Season Premiere. The New York auditions are shown. Runs 65 minutes.

On the Lot (FOX): New. Fifty made it to Hollywood out of 12,000. Sixteen were cut by the end of the first episode after having to make a pitch. Now they are put in groups of three and asked to write, film and edit a 2½ minutes short film in just 24 hours. The 36 remaining will be cut down to 18 before the real competition begins. This sounded like a good idea, but it started off kind of week and slow. It doesn’t give you any ability to develop any connection with the wannabe directors. You want to have a rooting interest and with out bad singers to make you laugh for the first few shows, they need to let you get to know some of these people. Did you watch the first episode on Tuesday? What did you think?

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (NBC): New. This is the first of the final six episodes of this show. Tonight the show heads for disaster when the cue-card holders and prop masters go on a last minute strike. I actually really liked this show and am looking forward to how they wrap things up. Are you? Starts five minutes into the third hour of primetime.

Solid Selections

My Name Is Earl (NBC): Repeat. The “Jump for Joy” episode replays with guest star Burt Reynolds.
30 Rock (NBC): Repeat. Jack sets up Liz with a blind date that doesn’t work out.

The Office (NBC): Repeat. “The Convention” episode from the beginning of this season replays where Michael tries to throw a party in his room and even though he looks inept, he still brings in a big account. Runs 31 minutes.
Scrubs (NBC): Repeat. The “My Musical” episode replays where the show turns into a Broadway musical. Runs 34 minutes.

Shark (CBS): Repeat. The “Starlet Fever” episode replays. Shark moves to Sunday nights in the fall.

Cable Choices

Emeril Live (Food Network): Repeat. It is hot and spicy tonight.

Iron Chef America (Food Network): Repeat. Sunday’s episode with Iron Chef Morimoto vs. Chef Tim Love in battle peppers replays. Plays again later.

Throwdown With Bobby Flay (Food Network): Repeat. Bobby wages a hot dog battle. Plays again later.
Ace of Cakes (Food Network): Repeat. A King Kong cake is made. Plays again later.

And Your Season 6 American Idol Is …

by @ 5:31 am. Filed under Rankings, Top Lists

Download Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis Songs at iTunesJordin Sparks. There were over 74 million votes cast after the final performance episode of American Idol Season 6. According to Ryan Seacrest it was the most votes ever and these weren’t even worth a dime a pop to charity. So, for what many seem to consider the weakest season so far, contestant wise. Especially, the two that ended up in the final face off. This was actually a pretty big year in both viewers and voters.

Of the final two, Blake Lewis was the most entertaining, but Jordin was the better singer. As she easily demonstrated when they both had to sing the same song. I still think that Melinda Doolittle should have been the winner, as shown in her performance with BeBe & CeCe Winans. She definitely had the best voice of all the finalists.

The results finale show was pretty good, with four of the past five American Idol winners taking the stage to sing for us. Kelly Clarkson sang her latest single, “Never Again.” Carrie Underwood sang “I’ll Stand By You,” which they played a video of during “Idol Gives Back.” Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard also took the stage. At the end of the show they were all back one more time singing Beatles tunes.

The Winner of American Idol Season 6:

  1. Jordin Sparks – She was very deserving of the title this season, as she was one of the best from start to finish. With her youth and great voice she could become a pop star. If they make the right kind of album with her, her debut could easily outsell Ruben, Fantasia and Taylor. Ranking her third behind Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.

Do you think Jordin was deserving of the win? Who do you think the best American Idol winner is so far?
