Tonight on the Tube: Hidden Palms, Traveler, Last Comic Standing & Rescue Me

Rescue Me - The Complete Third SeasonTonight you will find the season premieres of Last Comic Standing on NBC, Rescue Me on FX, Top Chef on Bravo and the series premiere of Lil’ Bush on Comedy Central. Also tonight you will find the Guys Choice awards on Spike. In other TV news, Jericho, which was revived recently by CBS, will start replaying episodes over the summer, but not on Wednesdays like during the season. Starting on Friday, July 6th the “Pilot” episode of Jericho will replay in the second hour of primetime. Then, the next week, the first half of the season catch-you-up clip show will replay and then the final eleven episodes will air each week. Starting telling all your friends now, at least the ones that don’t have anything to do on a Friday night during the summer.

Prime Picks

Hidden Palms (The CW): New. Greta won’t talk to Johnny about the death of Eddie. Starting next week, two episodes will play each Wednesday for two weeks. That will move the season finale up a couple of weeks to July 4th. Also, episodes won’t be replaying on Sunday nights anymore.

Criminal Minds (CBS): Repeat. Part 2 of the episode that aired after the Super Bowl where Reid is being held captive and drugged.

Traveler (ABC): New. Jay and Tyler head for Maine where Will is supposed to be from and find a woman that new him. The FBI finds more evidence in the bombing.

Solid Selections

The Next Best Thing: Who Is the Greatest Celebrity Impersonator (ABC): New. Las Vegas auditions are shown.

Last Comic Standing (NBC): Season Premiere. Two hours of comics trying to get into the competition. New host is comic actor Bill Bellamy. Former contestants Alonzo Bodden, Ant and Kathleen Madigan are the scouts.

Cable Choices

Emeril Live (Food Network): Repeat. See some “Hot Licks,” as Emeril celebrates with food.

MythBusters (Discovery Channel): New. Grenades, Diet Coke and Mentos all figure into the fun tonight. Plays again later.

Rescue Me (FX): Season Premiere. Tommy doesn’t recall what led to the beach house fire. Members of the crew get trapped while executing an unusual rescue. Runs 66 minutes and plays twice.

Other Options

  • Guys Choice (Spike): 2007. Watch as awards for the sexiest woman, the coolest guy and more are handed out. Sort of like an MTV Movie Awards geared completely towards guys about movies, music and more. Runs two hours.
  • One Tree Hill (The CW): Season Finale. Peyton and Brooke are headed for a summer in California. Lucas is wondering what to do after high school. Karen and Haley both being pregnant is complicating Nathan’s life. Next season will fast-forward four years and starts up after the college years, which will let all the actors play someone their own age.
  • Tyler Perry’s House of Payne (TBS): New. Two episodes play tonight. In the first, CJ finds out that his house fire was the result of arson. In the second, CJ learns of some truths about Janine.
  • World Poker Tour (Travel Channel): New. Tonight is a “Fathers and Sons” episode. Runs two hours.

Sports Notes

  • ESPN has Wednesday Night Baseball with the Arizona Diamondbacks at the New York Yankees.
  • ESPN2 has Wednesday Night Fights with a lightweight bout scheduled for 10 rounds.

TV Marathons

Bravo has 12 episodes of Top Chef leading up to the season premiere of the new season tonight.
Oxygen has 20 episodes of Living Single today.
Sci Fi has eight episodes of Night Stalker, which only lasted like four on ABC a couple seasons ago.
