New & Notes

Tonight, ABC has the season premieres of Supernanny and Wife Swap, CBS has the season premiere of Power of 10 and NBC has the two-hour season premiere of Law & Order. Over on cable, Bravo has a Make Me A Supermodel casting special and MTV has the season finale of Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County.

In late night, Ferguson, Kimmel, Leno, Letterman and O’Brien are all back with new episodes, but only Ferguson and Letterman will be returning with their comedy writers. Letterman’s Worldwide Pants production company, which owns Late Show and The Late Late Show, has struck an independent deal with the WGA. Unfortunately, Kimmel, Leno and O’Brien don’t have that luxury. The TVaholic will be setting the old DVRs to record them all and see what exactly they each will be doing.

Prime Picks

Power of 10 (CBS): Season Premiere. The quiz show returns to ask you to guess the opinions of the public to win some money.

Law & Order (NBC): Season Premiere. Two episodes play tonight to kick of the show’s 18th season. Jeremy Sisto (Kidnapped, Six Feet Under) joins the cast as Det. Cyrus Lupo. Also, joining the cast is Linus Roache (Kidnapped) as Executive Asst. D.A. Michael Cutter. Sam Waterston’s Jack McCoy takes over the D.A. position vacated presidential hopeful Fred Thompson’s Arthur Branch. Runs two hours.

Solid Selection

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (FOX): Oklahoma vs. West Virginia is the match-up. Hopefully, it will be a better game than some of the games from yesterday. Broadcast begins at 8:15 p.m. ET.

Cable Choices

Good Eats: Down & Out in Paradise (Food Network): Repeat. Alton cooks with coconut, pineapple, pork and other things when he gets stranded on an island. Plays again later.

MythBusters (Discovery Channel): Repeats. The two part “Supersized Myths” episode replays. Both replay again later.

Other Options

  • Gossip Girl (The CW): New. A little fun at the school’s pool almost goes really bad and the school wants to know exactly what happened and who was responsible.
  • Tyler Perry’s House of Payne (TBS): New. Two new episodes play where a woman goes into labor at the firehouse in the first one and then Jazmine doesn’t want to go to the dentist in the second. Two repeat episodes replay right before.
