Tonight on the Tube: Canterbury’s Law, Numb3rs & Battlestar Galactica

News & Notes

Download Battlestar Galactica Episodes at Amazon UnboxTonight, ABC has the second season premiere of Duel and CBS has the return of Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs with new episodes.

Over on cable, Sci Fi has the fourth, and final, season premiere of Battlestar Galactica.

In returning show news, CBS will have new episodes of Moonlight beginning next week April 25th (see comments below for more info on this change) and former Friday night show Women’s Murder Club will be back with three episodes, but not on Fridays, as it will take over the Tuesday night post Dancing With the Stars: Results Show slot on April 29th.

Prime Picks

Bones (FOX): Repeat. The team is up against a serial killer in an attempt to save a girl’s life, in “The Blonde in the Game” from season two.

Canterbury’s Law (FOX): New. Elizabeth is defending two high school girls on the charge of soliciting murder, until one of them gets another lawyer and makes a deal with the prosecution. Last week’s ratings, its first Friday night airing, got lower ratings than a repeat House episode a week earlier. It may get a chance to finish out its six episodes, this is episode four, but unless there is a miraculous turnaround in the ratings, it will most definitely not be back for another season.

Numb3rs (CBS): New. The team busts an inner-city meth lab and Don follows his gut to arrest a bystander that may have a bigger plan in motion. It has been reported recently that Diane Farr will not be returning to the show next season.

Solid Selections

America’s Funniest Home Videos (ABC): Repeat. Choosing this as the second best show in the first hour of primetime should tell you just how much I don’t like Ghost Whisperer, which is back with new episodes as of tonight.

Duel (ABC): Season Premiere. Mike Greenberg of ESPN Radio’s Mike and Mike in the Morning, which I am watching on ESPN2 right now as I type this, is back as host. Contestants duel each other in the attempt to have a chance at a $500,000 prize.

Dateline 20/20 (NBCA): New. Watch some investigative reports from ABC or NBC.

Cable Choices

Battlestar Galactica (Sci Fi): Repeat. Part one of the two-part season three finale, “Crossroads,” replays. Also, plays earlier in the day.

Battlestar Galactica (Sci Fi): Repeat. Part two of the two-part season three finale, “Crossroads,” replays. Also, plays earlier in the day.

Battlestar Galactica (Sci Fi): Season Premiere. The fourth, and final, season begins tonight. Runs 61 minutes. Plays again later. I’ve seen the episode and you can read my spoiler free general review. Also, watch an 8-minute recap of the first three seasons, watch Battlestar Galactica: Revealed, watch Battlestar Galactica: Phenomenon, watch an interview with members of the cast, or watch a season four promo with scenes from tonight’s episode below. (RSS and eMail Subscribers may need to click to the site to view the video) Update 4.21.2008: Sci Fi has granted TVaholic the right to use the weekly Battlestar Galactica preview clips only until the next week’s episode airs, which is why this clip no longer appears here.

Other Options

  • What Not to Wear (TLC): New. A woman that has lost more than 120 pounds continues to dress like a plus-size woman. Plays again later.

Sports Notes

  • ESPN has a NBA doubleheader with the San Antonio Spurs at the Utah Jazz followed by the Dallas Mavericks at the Los Angeles Lakers.
  • ESPN2 has women’s golf action with round two of the Kraft Nabisco Championship and later Friday Night Fights.
  • Golf Channel has men’s golf action with round two of the Shell Houston Open.

Late Night

  • Dirt (FX): Repeat. Sunday night’s episode, “What Is This Thing Called …” replays, where Lucy and Holt are trying to figure out what they should do next.

TV Marathons

Bravo has 18 episodes of Make Me a Supermodel.
Sci Fi has 10 of the last 11 episodes of Battlestar Galactica season three early.
Spike TV has 10 hours of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episodes.

Will you be watching Battlestar Galactica tonight?

I wanted to make a correction here.

Moonlight returns on April 18th with a repeat of episode 12, “The Mortal Cure”, with new episodes beginning April 25th.

Leeser, Thanks for the letting me know, as I hadn’t seen anything about there being a change. But, I did just finished reading a few stories, from the past few days, about the Save Moonlight Blood Drive for the Red Cross and each one mentions the new date, as does the Moonlight page on the CBS website. I will fix the info in the above post.
