Why are you posting about a big screen movie on a TV site, you may be wondering? It’s not even based on a TV show. Well, for three reasons:
- The cast is full of actors from TV favorites.
- It spoofs TV cop procedurals, among other TV and Hollywood conventions.
- Because of the previous two, thought you might be interested in my review.
It stars Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother), Kristen Bell (Heroes, Gossip Girl, Veronica Mars), Mila Kunis (Family Guy, That ‘70s Show), Bill Hader (Saturday Night Live), and Jack McBrayer (30 Rock).
Bell plays Sarah Marshall. She is a famous TV star on the hit show Crime Scene, which is a very funny send-up of a Law & Order: SVU/CSI type show. If you stay for the credits, you will also see her the promo for her new fake fall series, Animal Instincts, which is a Law & Order: SVU/Medium/Pet Psychic hybrid.
Segel plays Peter Bretter. He is a struggling musician that pays the bills by doing the ominous and foreboding music for the TV show Crime Scene and is also dating its star Sarah Marshall. Well, until he gets dumped at the beginning of the movie.
