Tonight, ABC has a ABC News Vote ’08: The Democratic National Convetion special, CBS has convention coverage, and NBC has the fourth season premiere of Deal or No Deal, the series premiere of America’s Toughest Jobs and then has a NBC News: Democratic National Convention special.

Over on cable, BET has a Locked Out: Ex-Cons and the Vote special, HBO has a The Black List special, MTV has the series premiere of My Super Sweet 16 Presents: Exiled, and TNT has the second summer finale of Saving Grace.

Prime Picks

The Big Bang Theory (CBS): Repeat. Sheldon gets kicked off the Physics Bowl team because of his air of superiority, in “The Bat Jar Conjecture.”
How I Met Your Mother (CBS): Repeat. Barney is trying to deal with breaking the “bro code,” in “The Goat” from this past season.

Samantha Who? (ABC): Repeats. Samantha realizes that she doesn’t remember sex, in “The Virgin,” and then she finds out that she is supposed to stay away from an ex, in “The Restraining Order.”

Solid Selections

Prison Break (FOX): Repeats. The last two episodes of last season replay. First up is “Hell or High Water,” where everyone doesn’t get out of Sona and then, “The Art of the Deal,” where Michael and Lincoln try to save LJ and Sophia from Susan. Runs two hours.

Cable Choices

The Closer (TNT): Repeat. Last Monday’s episode, “Problem Child,” replays. Plays again Saturday late night and Sunday right before the next new episode.

The Closer (TNT): New. Det. Sanchez’s brother gets shot and the case is assigned to Priority Homicide, but he must stay away from the case. While Kyra Sedgwick is always at the center, a different character from the supporting cast gets to step up and be featured each week. This week it is Raymond Cruz and his performance is outstanding. Kevin Bacon directed. Plays again later.

Saving Grace (TNT): New. A young Mexican woman dies after being dropped off by an unknown person at the hospital. The team investigates. Ham is still struggling with the loss of his brother. Plays again later.

Other Options

  • Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations (Travel Channel): New. Anthony explores “Egypt.” Plays again later.
  • Gossip Girl (The CW): Repeat. Blair has a plan to deal with Georgina, Lily is trying to forget about Rufus while preparing for her wedding day, and Dan finally learns of Serena’s past, in the first season finale episode, “Much ‘I Do’ About Nothing.” Season two premiere next Monday, September 1st. Watch some video interviews with the cast about the upcoming season.
  • How’d That Get on My Plate? (Food Network): New. The show focuses on “Cherries” this week. Plays again later.
  • The Middleman (ABC Family): New. Ida gets infested by nanobots and turns evil. Plays again later.
  • The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS): Repeat. Christine almost gets Mr. Harris fired with an email accidentally sent to the entire school, in “The Real Thing” from season two.
  • One Tree Hill (The CW): Repeat. Brooke deals with giving up the baby, Nathan and Jaime work on facing their fears, and Lucas makes a phone call, in fifth season finale episode, “What Comes After the Blues.” The sixth season premiere is next week, September 1st.
  • Two and a Half Men (CBS): Repeat. Charlie gives Alan advice on how to break things off with a woman, in “Meander to Your Dander” from this past season.
  • Weeds (Showtime): New. Nancy deals with the results of Shane’s recent exploits. Sila goes needs some help when his “sandwich” business starts growing too big for him to handle on his own. Plays again later.

  • ESPN has preseason Monday Night Football with my Seattle Seahawks at the San Diego Chargers.
  • ESPN2 has Monday Night Baseball with the Los Angeles Dodgers at the Philadelphia Phillies.
