Over on cable, A&E has the second season premiere of Parking Wars, BBC America has a special two-hour edition of BBC World News America, Bravo has the fifth season finale of Project Runway, Comedy Central has the series premiere of David Alan Grier’s Chocolate News, Discovery Channel has the series premieres of Time Warp and Prototype This, and Sci Fi has the second season finale of Destination Truth.

In Wednesday show news, unbelievably, NBC has ordered six more Knight Rider scripts.

Prime Picks

Pushing Daisies (ABC): New. Olive’s friend at the nunnery is thought to have committed suicide, but she thinks it was murder. So, Chuck, Emerson and Ned go undercover at the convent to see what they can find out. I really hope more people start watching this.

Presidential Debate (ABC, CBS & NBC): News Special. Bob Schieffer of CBS News moderates the debate tonight between the Barack Obama (D) and John McCain (R). Runs 90 minutes. Begins at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Solid Selections

The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS): New. Christine tries dating a guy that specializes in reptile parties hoping that it will help Ritchie get into the Reptile Club.
Gary Unmarried (CBS): New. Gary wants his pool table back and tells Allison that he will let out some racy photos of her if she doesn’t. Really like this show, it gets better each week.

Due to the debate and baseball there are no second or third hour solid selections tonight.

Cable Choices

Good Eats (Food Network): Repeats. Alton gets a “Choux Shine” before taking on “Puff the Magic Pastry.” Both play again later.

MythBusters (Discovery Channel): Repeat. An episode about ninja myths replays. Plays again later.

Sons of Anarchy (FX): New. Some old bones get discovered near Charming and Clay has to deal with some old secrets. The club sets out to win some money in a bare-knuckle brawl. Runs 62 minutes. Plays twice and again later.

Other Options

  • The Starter Wife (USA): Repeat. Last Friday’s two-hour series premiere episode, “The 40-Year-Old Virgin Queen; The Diary of a Mad Ex-Housewife,” replays.
  • Tyler Perry’s House of Payne (TBS): Repeats. Six episodes replay tonight.

  • ESPN2 has NBA preseason basketball action.
  • FOX has Game 5 of the MLB NLCS with the Philadelphia Phillies up 3-1 over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the series.

    I really hope that more people start watching Pushing Daisies too !
    Its much better than most of its competition!

    Maria, I agree it is better than most of the competition, but I would actually say better than all the competition. For me, Bones is the only thing close in the time period. Still can’t believe how many people are watching Knight Rider instead.
