News & Notes

Tonight, ABC has the 13th season premiere of The Bachelor and the series premiere of True Beauty, The CW returns with new episodes of Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill, MyNetworkTV has the series premiere of Masters of Illusion, and NBC has Superstars of Dance taking over its regular timeslot.

Over on cable, ABC Family has the winter premiere of Secret Life of the American Teenager, History has a Seven Signs of the Apocalypse special, Lifetime has Rita Rocks on its new night and the series premiere of DietTribe, MTV has the series premiere of Daddy’s Girl, and Travel Channel has the fifth season premiere of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations.

So hoping my DSL modem from Verizon shows up today, so I don’t have to take another trip to the library. Trying to work on a laptop when you are used to your ergonomic keyboard is a mess. Anyway, here’s another abbreviated picks for tonight.

Prime Picks

Gossip Girl (The CW): New. Chuck’s uncle has come to town. Blair is trying to join an exclusive club and Jenny is back at school.

One Tree Hill (The CW): New. Peyton finds out something that she must tell Lucas. Lucas finds out something else that Julian has been hiding. Brooke searches for Sam.

CSI: Miami (CBS): Repeat. The “Tunnel Vision” episode from season six replays, where the team is investigating after a car falls into a sinkhole to reveal a tunnel used for a bank heist.

Solid Selections

The Big Bang Theory (CBS): Repeat. In, “The Griffin Equivalency,” from earlier this season, we have Raj getting a bit of an ego boost from a magazine article.
How I Met Your Mother (CBS): Repeat. This season’s premiere episode “Do I Know You?” replays, where Ted gets an answer to his proposal to Stella.

Two and a Half Men (CBS): Repeat. This season’s premiere episode, “Taterhead Is Our Love Child,” replays, where Charlie runs into an old girlfriend with a son that looks and acts a lot like him.
Worst Week (CBS): Repeat. In “The Truck,” the family finally learns of Sam and Mel’s secret.

The third hour network selections are pretty weak and not even worth mentioning here.

Cable Choices

The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family): Winter Premiere. The first season resumes with Amy and Ben deciding they should get married and Annie telling George she wants a divorce. Plays twice and again later. Can’t wait to see what the ratings are for this head-to-head against Gossip Girl. Which do you think will garner more viewers tonight?

Unwrapped (Food Network): Repeats. A couple of episodes focusing on your favorite breakfast items replay. Both play again later.

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations (Travel Channel): Season Premiere. Tony visits Puebla and Mexico City. Plays again later.

Sports Notes

  • FOX has the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl with Texas vs. Ohio State.
