The Mentalist (CBS): New. The queen bee of a country club has been murdered and Jane and the rest of the team are on the case. Runs 61 minutes.

Without a Trace (CBS): New. A mother goes missing with her infant after taking in a defense class and the team searches for them. Starts a minute after the hour and runs 59 minutes.

Solid Selections

American Idol (FOX): New. Twelve of the final 36 perform tonight. Runs two hours.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC): New. The squad investigates after a man is found beaten in a parking lot with no memory of what happened to him.

Cable Choices

Good Eats (Food Network): Repeats. Alton cooks up some Thai and shows you what you can to with won ton skins. Both episodes play again later.

Dirty Jobs (Discovery Channel): New. Mike is rebuilding locomotives for his 200th dirty job. Last week’s episode, “Spider Pharm,” replays right before. Both play again later.

Leverage (TNT): New. The team decides it’s time to go after Nate’s old boss, the man that denied his son’s medical claim. It plays again later and again on Saturday afternoon. This is a great episode that sets up next week’s season one finale. Both episodes together will remind you why you started watching this show in the first place and leaves you not wanting to wait for season two.

Other Options

  • Chopped (Food Network): New. Four contestants compete by cooking up something tasty from a basket full of surprise ingredients. This episode includes working with canned peaches, rice cakes and beets. Plays again later.
  • Nip/Tuck (FX): New. Sean and Teddy are looking at their relationship. Christian finds a patient he can relate to that has a unique condition. Runs 62 minutes. Plays again later.

Sports Notes

  • ESPN has doubleheader college basketball action with Michigan State at Purdue followed by Kentucky at Vanderbilt.
  • ESPN2 has college basketball action with Maryland at Clemson.

Late Night

  • 10 Items or Less (TBS): New. Leslie learns that he is part American Indian and this impacts the way he runs the store. Plays again later.
  • The Beast (A&E): Repeat. Last Thursday’s episode, “Bitsy Big-Boy,” replays. Plays again later.
  • Bones (TNT): Repeat. “The Hero in the Hold” episode from earlier this season on FOX replays, where the Gravedigger takes booth and the rest of the team searches for him. This was not a very good episode.
  • Damages (FX): Repeat. Last Wednesday’s episode, “A Pretty Girl in a Leotard,” replays.
  • Psych (USA): Repeat. Last Friday’s episode, “Tuesday the 17th,” replays.
