I have seen many episodes of Designing Women, but have not see them in series order. It would be great to have the first season on DVD so that I can see how it all began. I really think that Anthony Bouvier (Meshach Taylor)is a great asset to the Sugarbaker family. I can’t say that I have a favorite episode, but the show is really funny and entertaining. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to win the complete first season on DVD.

My favorite memory of Designing Women is watching it in the back room of my grandparents’ house with my grandmother and my cousins.

3 Debbie B May 19, 2009 at 7:33 pm

It’s been so long since I’ve seen or even thought about Designing women- I’d love the season one DVD because I always enjoyed the show and I’d like to see it again!

4 Mary May 20, 2009 at 7:41 am

Great ensemble cast. Everyone played off of each other flawlessly. My favorite character was Julia Sugarbaker. I loved how her character held her tongue as long as she could, and them she’d let them have it!

5 Lorie May 20, 2009 at 2:50 pm

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Designing Women. About 8 years ago I used to watch an episode every morning before work. I think my favorite memory is when Suzanne lost her Miss Georgia crown due to a miscount, but regains it at the end. Loved that show!!

6 Carla Pullum May 21, 2009 at 4:04 pm

I seem to recall from the show all the dating and drama that used to go on. it’s been a while but would love to watch it all over again!

7 michelle rosborough May 21, 2009 at 6:08 pm

I’ve never seen the show. But enjoy watching “girl” cast shows.

8 Amanda Galloway May 22, 2009 at 1:56 pm

It’s been awhile since I’ve watched Designing Women, but I always loved the humor of the show. I think some of the funniest episodes were watching Suzanne with that pig she had.

9 Heidi May 24, 2009 at 7:42 am

My favorite memory has got to be the episode where Suzanne meets up with her former fellow beauty contestants, and Julia delivers that awesome speech that ends with “And that was the night the lights went out in Georgia!”

10 Karin May 26, 2009 at 9:09 am

Don’t really have a favorite episode– Loved Suzanne and Anthony together. They always made me laugh.

The one thing I hated about some later episodes is when the shows wanted to educate or preach about some issue—- seems like breast cancer was one of the things they got on their soapbox about— ugh. Drove me nuts. Comedy shows should entertain me …..not tell me what to do or how to think!

11 Betty May 26, 2009 at 9:33 am

Haven’t seen the show but a couple friends were devoted fans. I’d love to have the series to watch.

12 Johannah B May 26, 2009 at 9:44 am

I loved the way these women interacted. I loved the southern belle who were not only not weak and subservent but vital, strong and determined. Anthony always also added so much humor to the show.

13 Esther Hunter May 26, 2009 at 2:19 pm

It’s been so long since I’ve seen an episode, but I have seen them all! Can’t really say which is my favorite, I loved every one. Would love to have Season 1 to relive all the good memories.

14 Mildred May 27, 2009 at 12:04 am

I have not seen this TV series, but I’ve heard about the funny character interactions. It would be great to see the show in order starting with the first episode.

15 LindaD May 28, 2009 at 6:11 am

I seem to remember an episode where Julia Sugarbaker is an emcee or something like that for maybe a fashion show. In one scene she comes out of the ladies room with the hem of her skirt stuck into the top of her panty hose in back. Even though my memory is vauge…. I do remember it was hysterical. Thanks for the chance!

16 Gamma May 28, 2009 at 7:27 am

She’s going to exfoliate me!!!

17 mary May 28, 2009 at 7:53 am

I liked it when mary jo gave her Ex husband as a new gyn for suzanne and suz ended up dating mary’s ex – hillarious

18 Enid May 28, 2009 at 9:28 am

Love those boisterous strong ladies. One partiucular episode is not memorable, but the ensemble is.

19 Linda May 28, 2009 at 9:33 am

Awesome series

20 Tracey Byram May 28, 2009 at 9:49 am

The episode that I remember most vividly was the one with the little asian girl that Suzanne had staying with her. A little mini Suzanne.

21 Melissa D May 28, 2009 at 10:33 am

My favorite Designing Women memory is rushing home from school every day to watch it in syndication. I would love to re-experience the show as an adult! Thank you.

23 Mary D May 28, 2009 at 11:14 am

24 Laurel D May 28, 2009 at 11:20 am

I have very fond memories of the show. My mom and I used to watch re-runs of Designing Women everyday at 3:30 and 4:00 after I got home from school. I fell in love with the show, and am sad that the re-runs are no longer aired. I am so excited that it’s coming out on DVD finally!! I hope I win!!

30 susan varney May 28, 2009 at 2:23 pm

annie being annie

31 Jaque May 28, 2009 at 2:47 pm

I love the episode when they were all in a charity talent show, I think they were doing a song by Diana Ross and the Supremes. Suzanne was late and misunderstood the costumes…she showed up in black face! I guess Suzanne’s antics made me laugh the hardest.

Thank you. :-)

32 Nick Somoski May 28, 2009 at 2:52 pm

I started watching Designing Women on TV Land actually. I watched it every time it came on. Unfortunately, they don’t even air it anymore.

Hope I win!

I loved this show. Delta is the greatest.

34 Angela Cox May 28, 2009 at 3:21 pm

I have loved Designing Women since I was a little girl. I watched it ever week with my Grandmother. She would fix us a snack…ice cream, cookies, etc. to snack on while watching the show. I would love an opportunity to have this as my Grandmother is still living & know it would mean so much to her to to relive these memories. Thank you for the opportunity to stroll down memory lane!

35 MRS.MOMMYY May 28, 2009 at 4:07 pm

i really do not think there were any bad episodes- each one was funny- suzannes pig and they confronted alot of issues such as spousal abuse and with that one the skin darkener for singing as the diana ross and her backups

36 christopher h May 28, 2009 at 4:10 pm

i remember watching it with my parents

37 karebear7974 May 28, 2009 at 4:19 pm

I remember watching it with my mom. My favorite moments was when Julia tells off that guy named Ray Don, and when MaryJo gets the fake boobs. That show is hilarious, love all the characters!!

38 Jill e May 28, 2009 at 4:30 pm

The best episode ever was “they shoot fat women dont they” when Suzanne went back to her pageant reunion?..and they were talking about how heavy she had gotten..and she gave the best speech ever!

39 Tina H. May 28, 2009 at 5:21 pm

Suzanne and her pig… hilarious!

43 MaryAnn May 28, 2009 at 9:04 pm

Delta Burke cracked me up. I can’t remember any episodes because it has been too long, but it was always fun to watch.

44 Gary Emes May 28, 2009 at 9:13 pm

45 Susan D May 28, 2009 at 9:15 pm

50 ROK May 29, 2009 at 7:38 am

My Favourite episode is when Bernice has a sanity hearing and how it all comes into place for her including getting an understanding judge!

It’s my childhood’s best remembered show and it reminds me of a couple of women that worked together and that nannied me a little bit.

Thank you!

(I CORRECTED MY E-MAIL AS SEEN ABOVE)

I liked Dixie Carter’s role in how she was always the rock of reason.

54 sweetscove May 29, 2009 at 9:56 am

What I loved and remember the most of this show is how strong the women were. It was and still is rare to see a show centered around strong females.

55 valerie mabrey May 29, 2009 at 10:33 am

I love the one where delta shoots the guy and he has to stay with her. Of course Delta’s pig was funny too

56 Jeannie Brady May 29, 2009 at 10:53 am

I would love to own the first series set of Designing Women. I am a movie/tv-aholic. I have not seen an entire season of this show but have seen assorted shows over different seasons. It is a true classic. I too am from the SOUTH and can truly laugh at the antics of the ladies on Designing Women. Thanks.

57 Angela J May 29, 2009 at 12:31 pm

I liked the show where the two “dummies” memorized answers to a quiz show and wowed the two “smart ones”

58 Monique Rizzo May 29, 2009 at 12:46 pm

I have only seen a couple episodes and LOVED it!! Thanks for the chance.

59 Michelle May 29, 2009 at 12:49 pm

I grew up watching Designing Women. The Sugarbaker sisters were my favorites. Dixie Carter looked just like my best friend’s mom, so I really identified with her character. I would love to watch it again. It would take me back to my childhood.

I really loved this TV show!!! Hoping I win!!!

67 jayne May 29, 2009 at 3:39 pm

I used to watch this with my granny -it was her favorite show!

68 Ann May 29, 2009 at 3:56 pm

Many episodes of the show are in my favorite list, but one of the best – the ladies are discussing bras, particularly training bras, and Delta Burke’s character, Suzanne, says something to the effect of “You people consider full figured women dumb, and you had to train yours”

69 James May 29, 2009 at 7:46 pm

I liked when Suzanne bought a pig…so funny

70 gloria mckellar May 30, 2009 at 8:31 am

I like Delta Burke and Dixie Carter! They were so funny and you don’t see them any more!

71 Jim W. May 30, 2009 at 8:54 am

I remember being sad when it ended

72 ReggieMann May 30, 2009 at 9:55 am

One of my favorite memories of Designing Women is one episode when Dixie Carter’s real life daughters appeared as Julia & Suzanne’s nieces. They turned out to be younger versions of each of them – it was so funny :)

73 Martha Hardcastle Guthrie May 30, 2009 at 9:56 am

I never got to watch “Designing Women” until I was pregnant with my second child in 1993. In my sixth month, I was fired from my job at a miserable small daily newspaper with the worst managing editor known to man and was resigned to watching reruns in the daytime.

I was hooked. It also didn’t hurt that I was raised by a southern Mama in the upper south. Suzanne was my girl, but it was just a few days before I gave birth to Danny that Charlene “gave birth” herself, and the timing was perfect. I’ve been waiting for this now for a long time.

I hope I win!

Martha

74 cheryl May 30, 2009 at 11:39 am

I have so many favorite ones, it is so hard to choose but the first one that comes to mind is the Rowdy girls episode, when one of Charlenes friends is an abused wife, next is big hass and little falsy, Suzannes class reunion, Charlenes wedding, when the couples would go on trips- too many. That show has some of the best one liners. Even my father enjoyed watching the show. When my son was young he called it the The Sugarbakers.

75 Deborah Wellenstein May 30, 2009 at 12:23 pm

The “They Shoot Fat Women..” episode was the greatest. Thanks!

76 Adam May 30, 2009 at 12:47 pm

Julia taught me how to fight, and Suzanne taught me how to look fabulous doing it! “Eat Dirt!”

77 Marianna May 30, 2009 at 2:02 pm

One of my friends is crazy for Designing Women and I’d love to be able to gift this to him!

78 Angela May 30, 2009 at 6:24 pm

I still chuckle to myself thinking about seeing myself on every channel on the tv after it had been struck by lightening. LOL maybe wallpaper the den with tin foil….. Wonderful series absolutely loved it. Watch reruns on tv whenever they are on.

79 Rachel Robertson May 30, 2009 at 11:37 pm

My favorite episode is the one where Suzanne went to her reunion. I loved the poignant way they entertwined the story of fasting to raise money and the way the little boy told Suzanne she was beautiful. The speech she gave at the reunion for most changed person still brings tears to my eyes. I would love to win this as the show always brings laughter and has so many epsisodes where they address problems of the world but do it in a gentle not preachy way.

80 Paula Harmon May 31, 2009 at 4:59 am

My favorite memory of this show is watching it with my mom many years ago. If I won, I would give this prize to my mom. She collects dvd sets.

81 Erma May 31, 2009 at 7:45 am

My favorite memory of Designing Women is watching it with my sister.

82 Melissa P May 31, 2009 at 8:19 am

83 tim love May 31, 2009 at 11:43 am

love this for a gift !!!!!!!!

84 Gaye McGill May 31, 2009 at 1:57 pm

I don’t seem to remember any specific episodes, but I remember that the ladies were tough and funny and it was a classy humorous show. I think my granddaughters would love watching it with me.

85 Jacy May 31, 2009 at 2:04 pm

My favorite episode is when the hurricane comes and Julia, Berniece, and the crazy guy (who likes dancing around in his underwear) are stuck in the house. Too funny! Would love to win this DVD set.

86 Ken Robinson May 31, 2009 at 2:27 pm

I used to love this show.

90 Vicki Andrew May 31, 2009 at 10:57 pm

I’d love the season one DVD because I always enjoyed the show and I’d like to see it again

91 Geoff K May 31, 2009 at 11:16 pm

My favorite “Designing Women” moment would definitely have to be Julia’s epic moment putting the Miss Georgia contestant in her place by recounting Suzanne’s triumphant fire baton routine and victory in the pageant — it was so over-the-top and melodramatic, but I loved every second of it!

92 Carol Lawrence June 1, 2009 at 12:20 am

I watched the series in it’s original run,I want to win to see if it stands the test of time.

93 Jessica June 1, 2009 at 12:56 am

95 sue p June 1, 2009 at 7:08 am

feisty but always a lady especially Julia and the pig Suzanne had was just so funny poor Anthony the things he had to do

96 R Hicks June 1, 2009 at 7:17 am

I recall watching this often and liking it very much. It has been so long ago that I don’t remember specific episodes. Just know that it was hilarious

97 Susan Smith June 1, 2009 at 8:25 am

It’s been a while since I watched this show but I liked the interaction with the characters, especially Delta Burkes character.

98 Ann June 1, 2009 at 8:43 am

I can’t remember the episodes individually but I do remember that the cast was brilliant together, what with the southern politeness vs the snarkiness…it was an excellent show and I’d love to relive it.

99 Nicole June 1, 2009 at 9:55 am

My favorite episodes are the Dash Goff, the writer & They shoot fat women don’t they. I loved the show! It was a funny show that showcased strong women.

I used to watch this show all the time and Suzanne Sugarbaker was so funny to watch in this series!

107 Teresa B. June 1, 2009 at 12:34 pm

Oh I absolutely loved Designing Women! I think my favorite memory of the show was when Charlene had her baby. I think she had a rough time of it and dreamed that Dolly Parton was here guardian angel (if I remember correctly). She met this very smart older lady at the hospital who’d lived quite a remarkable life. They talked about a lot of the things that had happened in her lifetime. She was very old and all of her family had died. That night she passed away as Charlene’s baby was born and it showed Dolly escorting her off to heaven. Like I said, I LOVED that show. Thanks!

108 Dan June 1, 2009 at 12:43 pm

One of the best shows on tv
especially the way they tackled the supreme court justice episode

114 Jacob LaFountaine June 1, 2009 at 7:37 pm

I don’t remember any of the characters that well

115 Auriette June 1, 2009 at 8:44 pm

I used to watch this show all the time. The first clip that came to mind was Charlene, practicing to meet the Queen and she was planning to say, “My heart is full.” Then I thought of the time the women helped Charlene’s friend escape from an abusive husband to the tune of the Supremes. Then I recalled the time the women went to a retreat and Anthony ended up there dressed as a woman and when the leader asked who “she” talked to about registration he said, in falsetto of course, “Some white chick.” Funny, funny stuff! It would be good to see it again.

116 Helen June 1, 2009 at 9:15 pm
