Over on cable, ABC Family has the first season finale of 10 Things I Hate About You, FX has the second season premiere of Sons of Anarchy, and Planet Green has the series premieres of Planet Mechanics.

On Episode 43, “NBC Fall Preview 2009,” of the TV times Three podcast, Amrie, Rae and I talk about what’s coming this Fall on NBC, along with some news items, and our discussion of the previous week in primetime. Find out what we think of NBC’s new shows Community, Mercy, and Trauma and the rest of their Fall lineup.

Prime Picks

10 Things I Hate About You (ABC Family): Season Finale. Kat organizes a protest after Padua High School institutes a new dress code and other policies. Bianca finally gets to be a cheerleader. Plays again late night tomorrow. Last week was again my favorite episode of this show, so far. And, while this episode is really good and provides a great ending to the season, last week’s episode still remains my favorite of the first season. I hope we hear soon that the show will be coming back for more. What about you?
Ruby & the Rockits (ABC Family): New. Patrick is trying to coach Ruby’s soccer team and Jordan needs some songwriting advice and goes to David for help. Plays again late night tomorrow.

Warehouse 13 (Syfy): New. Artie is not around and Pete, Myka, and Claudia get themselves trapped in the warehouse. Plays again later. The previous two episodes, “Regrets” and “Duped,” both replay before this episode. Listen to interviews with Joanne Kelly, Eddie McClintock, Saul Rubinek, and Allison Scagliotti.

Sons of Anarchy (FX) Season Premiere. The gang is trying to setup a new gun deal with the IRA. Meanwhile, the club is divided after the murder of Donna. Runs 69 minutes. Plays twice and again later. This was one of my favorite new shows last season and the second season’s premiere episode does nothing to change that. I think the way this season starts off, you could jump in without having seen last season and be just fine. The cast is fantastic, which includes the additions of Adam Arkin (Life, Chicago Hope) and Henry Rollins (The Henry Rollins Show) as white supremacists. I haven’t seen ABC’s The Forgotten or CBS’ The Good Wife, but neither looks to be a better option that this in the third hour of primetime.

Solid Selections

90210 (The CW): Season Premiere. Naomi and Silver are at the Beverly Hills Beach Club, where they meet the son of a movie star. Navid is trying to plan a romantic outing for him and Adrianna. Dixon gets a text that leaves him thinking about his relationship with Silver.

Melrose Place (The CW): Series Premiere. The apartment complex’s newest resident finds another resident dead in the pool. Plays again on Friday and Sunday nights. I’ve seen the first two episodes. The second episode sort of relieved my main problem with the first episode, but it brought up new problems. While the acting seemed fine in the first episode, it was less than stellar in the second. The cast is full of lots of beautiful people, so it has that going for it. Even with it not being my favorite of The CW’s new shows and having not seen CBS’ NCIS: Los Angeles yet, it looks like this show will be at least the second best option in the second hour of primetime.

The Cleaner (A&E) New. A former client wants William to help his girlfriend, who happens to be the daughter of a major drug dealer. Plays twice and again later twice.

Other Option

  • Chopped (Food Network): New. Past winners return to compete in “The Ultimate Face-Off.” Plays again later.

Sports Note

  • ESPN2 has coverage of the U.S. Open tennis tournament.

Late Night

  • Greek (ABC Family): Repeat. Last night’s episode, “Our Fathers,” replays. This was such a good episode.
  • Mad Men (AMC): Repeat. This past Sunday night’s episode, “The Arrangements,” replays.
  • Psych (USA): Repeat. “High Noon-ish” from two weeks ago replays.
  • Saving Grace (TNT): Repeat. Season three replays in late night with episode three, “Watch Siggybaby Run.” Plays again later.

TV Marathons

BET has 18 episodes of Everybody Hates Chris.
Oxygen has 12 episodes of America’s Next Top Model.
Spike has seven hours of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episodes.
Syfy has eight episodes of First Wave early.
TNT has five episodes of Bones tonight.
Travel Channel has five episodes of Bizarre Foods With Andrew Zimmern.
USA has 11 episodes of Law & Order: Criminal Intent early followed by six episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit tonight.

2 shows away from finishing up Warehouse 13 and then either Castle or Sons of Anarchy or Ugly Betty may be next.

Kaliel, I’d go with Castle, if you want to stay with the comic procedural aspect of Warehouse 13, or Sons of Anarchy, if you want some seriously tweaked drama.
