Over on cable, ABC Family has the first series finale of Ruby & the Rockits, Discovery Channel has the first season finale of The Colony, HBO has a Joe Buck Live special, MTV has the second season finale of Daddy’s Girls, Oxygen has the series premiere of The Naughty Kitchen With Chef Blythe Beck, Syfy has the first season finale of Warehouse 13, and TLC has the second season premiere of Table for 12.
NCIS (CBS): Season Premiere. Gibbs and his team are back to work. Tony and McGee start a search for Ziva’s replacement.
Warehouse 13 (Syfy): Season Finale. MacPherson seems to selling artifacts that have been taken from the warehouse and the team sets out to find and stop him once and for all. Plays again later. The whole season replays leading up to this episode. This episode is really good and sets the stage nicely for season two. I don’t want to say anymore than that, so I won’t accidentally spoil anything.
Sons of Anarchy (FX) New. The League seems to be getting bolder in their attempts to undermine Samcro. Clay and Gemma are having communication problems. Tara learns how to stake her claim on Jax. Runs 62 minutes. Plays twice and again later.
Ruby & the Rockits (ABC Family): Series Finale. Ruby wants Jordan to stop intruding all the time. Ben gets help with being bullied. Last week’s episode replays right before. This show is not very good, but I would still rather watch it than 90210, which will takeover this spot by default next week.
NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS): Season Premiere. Agent Callahan, who got shot multiple times in the second of the two episodes of NCIS that introduced us to this team, returns to work after four months and ends up on a kidnapping case. I liked this episode, even if the many changes from what we had seen previously seem a bit strange. So, be ready for new characters you didn’t see in the backdoor pilot episodes. But, unless you like dancing or big losers, this is by far the best you can do in the second hour of primetime.
The Good Wife (CBS) Series Premiere. A mother, and wife of a state’s attorney, has to go back to work after her husband’s political scandal lands him in jail. She was a great for the two years she spent as an attorney, but finds she has some serious competition upon returning to practice law. She ends up on the case of a woman accused of murdering her ex-husband that is being retried after the first time the case ended in a hung jury. I really liked this show, but not quite enough to put it in my must watch category of new fall shows. But, it does top the list of shows that fall somewhere between excellent and not so much. Julianna Margulies is very good as the wife in question, but the twist of a woman going back to work later in life isn’t enough to make this solid lawyer procedural standout. If you like law shows, you won’t be disappointed by this entry into the genre.
