Prime Picks

Dollhouse (FOX): New. In the first of two new episodes tonight, Echo sets out to keep a Senator from revealing the Dollhouse.

Monk (USA): Series Finale. Monk is pursuing the Trudy’s killer and hoping to finally find out the truth behind her death. Plays again later. Last week’s episode replays right before. A total of 16 episodes play today. I’ve always enjoyed this show. Haven’t seen every episode, as I came into it after a season or so and haven’t always kept up. Probably watched about half the episodes each season for the last few seasons. It was probably time for it to go and I hope the long running mystery of who killed Trudy wraps up nicely for the Monk. Will you miss Monk when he is gone?

White Collar (USA): Fall Finale. The FBI is on the case of a huge jewelry heist and all the clues point towards Neal being behind it. Peter tries to figure out whether he was or if he is just pulling another con. Plays again later. The season resumes as of Tuesday, January 19th.

Solid Selections

Smallville (The CW): Repeat. The “Metallo” episode from earlier this season replays, where Brian Austin Green (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Beverly Hills, 90210) guest stars reporter John Corbin is hit by a truck and wakes up with a kryptonite heart and super strength. The season resumes on Friday, January 22nd.

Stargate Universe (Syfy): Fall Finale. A crewmember is found dead on the ship. A nearby planet may be shielding them from noticing a big problem. Plays again later. The previous episode, “Life,” replays right before. It looks like the series won’t resume until April 2010.

Sanctuary (Syfy): New. Magnus and Will are trapped after they crash land their helicopter in the Gulf of Mexico. Plays again later.

Other Options

  • A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa (NBC): Repeat. The Muppet gang accidentally keeps three letters from getting to Santa, so they decide to deliver them personally.
  • Dollhouse (FOX): New. In the second of two new episodes tonight, Echo comes in contact with Bennett and Topher uses Victor in his espionage.
  • Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer (The CW): Repeat. Animated Christmas special about a Grandmother that goes missing on Christmas Eve. I’ve never actually seen this. Have you? Is it any good? I have heard the song though.
  • Medium (CBS): New. A deadly virus has gone missing and Allison’s vision may be able to stop a bioterror attack.
  • Numb3rs (CBS): New. Money from the old D.B. Cooper heist is found, so Agent Bloom is called in for help on the case.
  • Unwrapped (Food Network): New. See how some of your favorite holiday treats are made. Plays again later.

Sports Notes

  • ESPN has doubleheader NBA action with the Chicago Bulls at the Cleveland Cavaliers followed by the Miami Heat at the Los Angeles Lakers.
  • ESPN2 has college football action with the Marathon MAC Championship.

Late Night

  • Sons of Anarchy (FX): Repeat. This past Tuesday’s second season finale episode, “Na Trioblidi,” replays. Runs 90 minutes.

Not every Monk has been a great show, or even an example of good police work, but for the most part it’s been fun. After all, it’s not really about the police work. Anyway, I will truly miss Monk. The Mentalist is the next-closest thing.

Dollhouse was great–if they had done episodes like that at the beginning of the season, maybe they’d still be around. Victor as Topher was excellent!

Joel, The Monk finale was great, as it wrapped everything up nicely by giving everybody a happy ending.

Kyle, The two Tophers on Dollhouse was one of the best things I’ve seen on any show this TV season. Absolutely amazing. Somebody needs to snap Enver Gjokaj up and give him his own series, cause that guy can play anything.
