News & Notes

Get Better Off Ted Season 1 on DVD at AmazonOn cable tonight, TLC has the second season finale of Table for 12 and the third season finale of 18 Kids & Counting, and truTV has a Party Heat special and the first season finale of Full Throttle Salon.

As of January 5th, ABC will begin playing two episodes each of Scrubs and Better Off Ted on Tuesdays. I’d be happy about this, if it wasn’t a sign that they have decided to burn-off the remaining episodes before Lost takes over the night in February.

Prime Picks

The Office (TBS): Repeat. In “Performance Review” from season two, everyone is a bit worried and Michael searches the suggestion box for any good ideas he can use.
The Office (TBS): Repeat. In “Dwight’s Speech” from season two, Dwight tries to get some help from Michael about public speaking.

Scrubs (ABC): New. J.D. is looking for approval. Lucy is looking for courage, and Drew and Denise become official.
Better Off Ted (ABC): New. Lem’s mother, played by Khandi Alexander (CSI: Miami), comes for a visit, a brilliant scientist that he has always found intimidating. If you’ve never watched an episode of Better Off Ted, I’d really like to know why not? Please leave a comment telling me what it is about the show, things you’ve heard, the way it’s advertised, the night it is on, anything about why you haven’t given it a shot. This is such a great little comedy that I can’t figure out why people aren’t watching. Especially, since they are watching other comedies with a similar style and wit.

The Office (TBS): Repeat. In “Drug Testing” from season two, Dwight investigates after he finds half a joint in the parking lot.
The Office (TBS): Repeat. In “Boys and Girls” from season two, Jan is conducting a meeting for the women of the office, so Michael takes all the guys down to the warehouse to bond.

Solid Selections

NCIS (CBS): Repeat. In “Silent Night” from last season, the team is forced to work long hours for a case over Christmas.

The Office (TBS): Repeat. In “Take Your Daughter to Work Day” from season two, Michael befriends his enemy’s 5-year-old daughter.
The Office (TBS): Repeat. In “Michael’s Birthday” from season two, Michael takes the office to the ice skating rink for a celebration.

The Good Wife (CBS) Repeat. In “Crash” from earlier this season, Alicia and Will are trying to figure out how to win a class action lawsuit against a train company, but only have three days to prove their case.

Sports Notes

  • ESPN has the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas with BYU vs. Oregon State.
  • ESPN2 has college basketball action.
  • Versus has NHL action.

Late Night

  • nip/tuck (FX): Repeat. Last Wednesday’s sixth season finale episode, “Wesley Clovis,” replays.
