Over on cable, A&E has the series premiere of Fugitive Chronicles, Animal Planet has a Beasts of the Bible special, and History has the first season finale of Food Tech.

Scheduled to be on TV Talk today at 4:00 p.m. PT to talk about the week in TV with host Shaun Daily and fellow TVtimesThree partner Amrie of My Take on TV. The show runs from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. PT and I am usually on right about the halfway point.

Prime Picks

The Vampire Diaries (The CW): New. Anna visits Damon and brings a guest he doesn’t expect. Caroline wants her and Matt to go on a double date with Elena and Stefan, which turns out to be awkward.

Grey’s Anatomy (ABC): New. Alex’s brother comes into the hospital needing hernia surgery. Runs 61 minutes. Apparently we will learn more about Alex’s past in this episode.

Private Practice (ABC): New. A top neurosurgeon comes to St. Ambrose with her team and Addison is surprised to learn that Derek’s younger sister is on the team. Charlotte and Cooper are trying to figure out how to work together. Starts a minute after the hour and runs 59 minutes.

Solid Selections

Bones (FOX): New. Dr. Sweets is having some trouble dealing after floodwaters derail his subway train. A skeleton is found in the aftermath. This is the first of eight straight weeks of new episodes to close out the season.

Fringe (FOX): New. Walter tells Olivia about Peter, which takes us back to 1985. I’ve been so looking forward to this episode over the long hiatus. This is the first of eight straight weeks of new episodes to close out the season.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (CBS): New. Det. Vartann and CSI Willows get close during a 24-hour stakeout at a nice hotel. Starts a minute before the hour and runs 61 minutes. CBS is swapping timeslots with The Mentalist this week as a test.

Other Options

  • Ace of Cakes (Food Network): New. Duff and the gang get to ring the opening bell after being commissioned to build a cake for the New York Stock Exchange. A repeat episode plays right before. Both episodes play again later.
  • FlashForward (ABC): New. Demetri, Janis, Simon, and Vogel are off to Somalia to checkout the tower. Olivia attempts to get her daughter to tell what she saw in her flash forward.
  • The Mentalist (CBS): New. CBI meets their new boss. Runs 59 minutes. CBS is swapping timeslots with CSI this week as a test.
  • The Office (NBC): Repeats. See Jim and Pam get married in “Niagra” followed by “The Delivery” for two hours of repeat goodness.

Do you have any news on Damages and whether it is returning next season? I LOVE that show!!

it really sucks that they swapped The Mentalist – now I have THREE all playing at the same time – what to watch and what to DVR? (and we have to babysit and cannot see one of them live) do you know when the Mentalist will be showing again?

And just found out that a new show on ABC starts in April -Romantically Challenged — hope it will be on your next update LOL

Linda, I haven’t heard anything about another Damages season, but given how poorly it has done in the ratings this season, I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

Laraine, I agree about the swapping of The Mentalist this week. Kind of hope it doesn’t work, so they don’t switch it permanently. You should make sure to DVR it or watch it, cause it doesn’t replay and isn’t available online legally anywhere either. Everything else in the hour is available online: Grey’s, The Office (which is a repeat tonight anyway), Fringe, and Supernatural.

As for Romantically Challenged, the premiere episode is good. Starts off a bit forced, but many sitcoms do, yet finishes well. Some good laughs and a great cast. There’s definite potential there. Will get a nice boost from Dancing With the Stars lead-in, but will be up against The Big Bang Theory.
