News & Notes
Over on cable, Syfy has the first spring season premiere of Stargate Universe and the second season premiere of Merlin.
Smallville (The CW): New. Clark and Lois end up at the same bed and breakfast as Oliver and Chloe, which ends up ruining their romantic getaway plans.
Stargate Universe (Syfy): Spring Premiere. Something goes wrong while Col. Young tries to use the communications stones, which leads to some new problems for the people on the Destiny. Plays again later. The first half of the season replays leading up to tonight’s midseason premiere. I love how this series revolves more around the characters than anything else and there are some wonderful characters to learn about as they deal with this unique situation. And, the events of this and next week’s episodes will leave you knowing where everybody stands and will change the dynamic on Destiny. I can’t wait to see how they deal with it going forward. There are also lots of surprises in store, unless you’ve seen some of the more spoilery promos. If you liked the first half of the season, I think you will very much enjoy tonight’s return. If you haven’t watched, you should give it a shot.
Merlin (Syfy): Season Premiere. The second season premieres with the wizard risking his soul to save Camelot from a dark destiny. Plays again later.
House (FOX): Repeat. The “Known Unknowns” episode from earlier this season replays, where a teen girl comes into the hospital with swollen appendages and an inability to separate fact from fiction.
Medium (CBS): New. Allison and her daughters are having the same dream about a murderer that knocks off whole families.
Miami Medical (CBS): Series Premiere. The ER ends up full of restaurant patrons after a big explosion. This is the new medical drama from the Bruckheimer production house. I haven’t had a chance to see it yet and haven’t heard much about it either.
- What Not to Wear (TLC): New. Stacy and Clinton try to help a PR consultant that doesn’t want to relinquish pieces from her Goth past. A repeat episode replays right before. Both play again later.
- ESPN has doubleheader NBA action with the Atlanta Hawks at the Cleveland Cavaliers followed by the Utah Jazz at the Los Angeles Lakers.
- ESPN2 has second round coverage of the Kraft Nabisco Championship LPGA tournament.
- Justified (FX): Repeat. This past Tuesday’s episode, “Fixer,” replays.
