News & Notes

Get Friday Night Lights Season 4 on DVD at AmazonTonight, ABC has the 2010 Scripps National Spelling Bee and CBS has the third season premiere of Flashpoint, finally, and begins burning off their remaining Miami Medical episodes.

Over on cable, Animal Planet has the third season premiere of Whale Wars.

Prime Picks

Friday Night Lights (NBC): New. Julie and her family try to help Matt through a crisis. Vince gets involved in some criminal activity in an attempt to help his family.

Stargate Universe (Syfy): New. Dr. Rush is being forced to help the Lucian Alliance try and takeover the Destiny in part one of the two part first season finale. Plays again later.

Party Down (Starz): New. Party Down is having a company picnic and the new owner has hired Val Halla to cater the event, which leads to lots of fun competitions between the rival cater-waiters. Plus, it means Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) returns as Uda the team leader and present girlfriend of Henry. Runs 30 minutes. Bell is great, as are the regular players. But, Megan Mullally’s Lydia has the standout story of the episode involving her daughter. For those of you that don’t have Starz, but have a Netflix account, you can watch this and other Starz series via instant watch.

Other Options

  • Flashpoint (CBS): New. Bombs are going off all over the city, shutting down the city. This is just such a good show and I am very happy that it is finally going to be back on our TVs down here in the U.S.
  • Merlin (Syfy): New. A beast attacks Camelot and it might cause Merlin’s friendship with a druid girl to be threatened. Plays again later.

Sports Note

  • ESPN has NBA Eastern Conference Finals action with Game 6 of the Orlando Magic at the Boston Celtics.
