On cable tonight, BBC America has the third season finale of Gavin & Stacey, CMT has a CMT Crossroads special, Discovery Channel has a Discovery Saved My Life special, ID has the first season finale of Main Street Mysteries, Science has the seventh season finale of How It’s Made, and TLC has the series premiere of Battle of the Wedding Designers.

Friday Night Lights (NBC): New. Coach Taylor’s newly named quarterback may have brought a gun to school. Julie and Landry are trying to put the past behind them.

Flashpoint (CBS): New. The SRU team tries to diffuse a hostage situation at a gas station.

Party Down (Starz): New. The gang is catering a draft day party, but the guest of honor begins to slip in the draft. Lydia makes a play for the player’s single dad. Ron is concerned with a health issue. Runs 30 minutes. For those of you that don’t have Starz, but have a Netflix account, you can watch this and other Starz series via instant watch.

• ESPN has two 2010 FIFA World Cup games, which includes Slovenia vs. United States early and later second round coverage of the U.S. Open golf tournament, which takes a couple hour break to play on NBC.
