News & Notes

Download Terriers Episodes via Amazon Video On DemandOn cable tonight, BBC America has the series premiere of I’ll Do Anything, Syfy has the series premiere of Hollywood Treasure, and truTV has the first season finale of Ma’s Roadhouse.

Direct TV has the fifth, and final, season premiere of Friday Night Lights.

In cancellation news, ABC will play out the 13 episodes of The Whole Truth, but that will be all, as it was not picked up for the season.

Prime Picks

Undercovers (NBC): New. Samantha takes on a former alias on their latest mission, which has her dealing with a rival of Steven. I think this is still the best bet in the hour, even though I am pretty much done with the show. It’s a weak hour.

Modern Family (ABC): New. Claire is trying to make the Dunphy house scary for Halloween. Cameron doesn’t like Halloween because of a childhood trauma. Runs 31 minutes.
Cougar Town (ABC): New. Jules’ father is visiting and he and Grayson seem to be getting along. Starts a minute after the half hour and runs 29 minutes.

Terriers (FX): New. Hank and Britt end up having to work with their former partners, as they’ve gotten into some trouble in Mexico. Runs 61 minutes. Plays twice and again later. Great episode. Love how things and people from past episodes keep popping up to cause problems and drive the story. What do you think of the show so far?

Solid Selections

The Middle (ABC): New. Frankie enjoys that fact she has been invited to a neighborhood Halloween party.
Better With You (ABC): New. Mia and Casey set out to give Maddie a Halloween free birthday party. ABC has picked the show up for the season.

Criminal Minds (CBS): New. The team is after an unsub that has struck the last three years on Devil’s Night in Detroit.

The Defenders (CBS): New. Nick takes on an attempted murder case. Anyone else notice how many former Conviction cast members are working for the DA’s office in Vegas? There’s at least three.

Other Options

  • Hollywood Treasure (Syfy): Series Premiere. Two episodes play tonight, where the story behind some pretty cool Hollywood memorabilia is found and auctioned off. Both play again later. Like, when I was in Orlando for the Syfy Digital Press Tour, they had the Sports Almanac from Back to the Future and one of the original golden tickets from the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on display.
  • MythBusters (Discovery Channel): New. The guys look into “Table Cloth Chaos.” Plays again later.
  • The Next Iron Chef (Food Network): Repeat. This past Sunday’s episode, “Transformation,” replays. Plays again later.
  • Tailgate Warriors With Guy Fieri (Food Network): New. 49ers fans go up against Raiders fans. Plays again later.

Sports Notes

  • ESPN has doubleheader NBA action with the Chicago Bulls at the team that shall not be named followed by the Portland Trail Blazer at the Los Angeles Clippers.
  • FOX has Game 1 of the MLB World Series with the Texas Rangers at the San Francisco Giants.

Late Night

  • Sons of Anarchy (FX): Repeat. Last night’s episode, “Lochan Mor,” replays. Runs 90 minutes.
