Prime Picks

Human Target (FOX): New. An old friend lures Ames back into her old life. Chance ends up going undercover to help her out and her friend out. This is my favorite episode of the first three episodes of this season. It gives you a little more back-story on one of the new additions to the team and leaves us pretty well fully introduced to the new team members and what the show is going to be going forward. It’s a little different from last season, but still fun to watch. Looking forward to see where it goes from here. What do you think about the new characters?

MythBusters (Discovery Channel): New. The group takes a look at some insect myths. Plays again later. Last week’s episode replays right before.

Psych (USA): New. Shawn and Gus get a mysterious email requesting help from someone in the small town of Dual Spires, which is in the middle of their cinnamon festival. They end up in the middle of a murder mystery after a local teen girl is found dead. Plays again later. Runs 67 minutes. This episode is a tribute to Twin Peaks. While I have only a rudimentary knowledge of that series, I still quite enjoyed the episode. It very much captures the bizarre David Lynch-ness of the show it lovingly mocks. Guest stars include Sherilyn Fenn, Sheryl Lee, Ray Wise and others from Twin Peaks. I’m sure that if I’d ever actually seen an episode of that show, I would of got more jokes, but there was still plenty of fun stuff for those like me. Mostly, I really wanted a piece of that cinnamon pie and by extension a piece of cherry pie. I would be very interested in hearing from any fans of Twin Peaks about the episode, as I believe that you will really enjoy it. Also, the opening theme might just be the best re-working of it that they have done.

Solid Selections

Undercovers (NBC): New. Leo wakes up next to a dead woman in Mexico and it is up to Samantha and Steven to go down and prove he is innocent.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC): New. Det. Benson is growing closer with Calvin, who was left in her care. The other detectives investigate when Calvin’s mother’s name comes up in rape case.

Terriers (FX): Season Finale. Hank is running out of options and time. Britt is offered a deal that could help him out of a jam. Runs 64 minutes. Plays twice and again later. A very solid end to what has been an absolutely great season. A lot goes down in the first half of the episode, but it almost seems like things get wrapped up too early. I do like how it leaves things for going into a second season, which I really hope FX sees fit to give the show.

Other Options

  • Food Truck Paradise (Travel Channel): New. Some of the best food trucks around the country are profiled. Plays again later.
  • Hollywood Treasure (Syfy): New. “Joe’s Judgment Day.” Plays twice and again later.

Sports Notes

  • ESPN has doubleheader college basketball action.
  • ESPN2 has doubleheader college basketball action.

Late Night

  • Burn Notice (USA): Repeat. The last new episode, “Hot Property,” from a couple weeks ago replays.
  • Sons of Anarchy (FX): Repeat. Last night’s third season finale episode, “NS,” replays. Runs 89 minutes.
