On cable tonight, BBC America has the second season premiere of Luther, Discovery Channel has the 10th season premiere of MythBusters, E! has a Tyra Banks special, MTV has the 26th season premiere of The Real World, National Geographic has the series premiere of Rocket City Rednecks, and TV One has the third season premiere of Life After.
The Middle (ABC): New. Axl is messing with Sue, now that she is in high school with him.
Suburgatory (ABC): Series Premiere. A father worried about his daughter decides to move her from the city to the suburbs and they are both shocked at what life is like there. This is one of my favorite new comedies of the fall. They set up such an interesting version of suburbia that they should be able to have lots of fun playing in the world going forward. Jane Levy (Shameless) is great as the daughter. This should fit nicely into the ABC Wednesday Comedy Block. I look forward to seeing more in the coming weeks.
Modern Family (ABC): New. Jay isn’t all that happy with the relationship Gloria has with the dog. Cameron goes on a juice fast. Runs 31 minutes.
Happy Endings (ABC): Season Premiere. Penny buys herself a condo and declares that this will be the year she turns things around. Jane thinks Dave and Alex should be completely honest with each other now that they are just friends. Starts a minute after the half hour and runs 29 minutes. This episode is “amahzing.” I haven’t literally laughed out loud at a comedy as much as I did while watching this episode. They have really figured out what this show is and the second season gets off to a great start, as next week’s episode is just as great. I am so happy to have this show back.
Revenge (ABC): New. Emily sets her sights on her next target, a former family friend that falsely testified against her father. Victoria has someone looking into Emily’s past. Was very much happy to find that the second episode lived up to last week’s premiere. While I wonder how long they can go taking down a person each week, it is fun watching her do so. I love how each takedown is Leverage-esque. They show her working her plan and then fill in a detail or two at the end to fully show you how she did it. I’m definitely on board. What did you think of last week’s premiere?
Up All Night (NBC): New. Chris wants to spice things up. Ava learns that her ex is getting married.
Free Agents (NBC): New. Stephen asks Emma to help with a presentation to Alex’s dismay. Unless this episode is much improved, it will likely be my last. What do you think of NBC’s Wednesday night comedies so far?
Criminal Minds (CBS): New. A series of murders in Oklahoma is being investigated. Reid is giving the cold shoulder to JJ and Prentiss.
Luther (BBC America): Season Premiere. Luther is back on the job. A failed art student is emulating a Victorian killer. Plays again later.
Bravo has five episodes of Top Chef: Just Desserts.
Syfy has eight episodes of The Twilight Zone.
USA Network has 16 episodes of NCIS.
