Prime Picks

Chuck (NBC): Season Premiere. Carmichael Industries goes up against a thief and takes on a conniving investor. Morgan is helping Chuck put surprise together for Sarah. Jeff and Lester are putting a new scheme into action.

Grimm (NBC): Series Premiere. A detective learns that he is one of the last of a line of profilers that are charged with keeping the balance between humanity and mythological creatures during an investigation into a missing girl. This show has been getting a bad rap because of its procedural nature. Review: I don’t know why people hate on procedurals so much, as it is a very valid way to tell a story. Especially when you make that the basis and wrap an ongoing story with depth around it. That is what looks to have been done here. There is a lot that is familiar besides the procedural bones of the show. You have a hero that has been protected his whole life from the truth of his family and gets thrust into this new dangerous world he didn’t know existed. But, I think it really works for this type of show, as we get to learn about Grimms and everything around them as our main character does. Yes, we will most likely get a monster of the week, but there are plenty of cool character types to learn about in this world. I found Grimm to be entertaining and done well and am looking forward to seeing where they go with the premise. There is definitely room for improvement, but there is a solid foundation on which to build.

Blue Bloods (CBS): New. Two cops respond to a 911 call and one ends up getting injured by the security team of a church. Frank must deal with the fallout after an outspoken minister uses the incident to further his agenda.

Solid Selections

Nikita (The CW): New. Birkoff comes across Nikita’s birth certificate while searching through the black box. So, Michael helps her track down her father, guest star David Keith.

Supernatural (The CW): New. Sam and Dean have been cloned and end up getting the Winchester brothers wanted for murder.

  • Boss (Starz): New. Kane and his group flex their muscle with a new candidate in the race. Meredith thinks her husband is hiding something from her.. Runs Plays twice.
  • Other Option

    • Sanctuary (Syfy): New. Magnus ends up in the middle of a hostage situation after traveling to a remote island to meet the new financial officer for the Sanctuary. Plays again later.

On the topic of Grimm – There are now two shows (Grimm & Once Upon a Time) that aren’t half of what a re-telling of the graphic novel series Fables, should have been. I recommend if you guys like those two shows – check out Fables.
