Get The Closer Season 7 on DVD at AmazonTonight, ABC has the premiere of Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice, FOX has the American Country Awards, and NBC has A Sing-Off Christmas special.

Over on cable, Oxygen has the third season premiere of Love Games: Bad Girls Need Love Too, Syfy has the miniseries finale of Neverland, TLC has the series premiere of Candy Queen, and truTV has the second season premiere of Lizard Lick Towing.

How I Met Your Mother (CBS): New. Robin is keeping some bad news to herself. Marshall decides to decorate the house in the suburbs for the holidays.
2 Broke Girls (CBS): New. Caroline and Max try to figure out what to do with the horse for the winter.

The Closer (TNT): New. The squad investigates when a Santa dies using a zip line to enter the local Christmas Village. Buzz’s sister is visiting. Plays again later. Last week’s episode, “Necessary Evil,” replays right before. They always have fun with the Christmas themed episodes and this one is no exception. Fred Willard (Back to You) guest-stars as the owner of the Village. Brenda gets a lot of good lines. The guys like having Buzz’s sister around the squad room, as she is played by the very attractive Christine Woods (Perfect Couples, FlashForward).

Castle (ABC): New. Beckett and Castle wake up in a locked room handcuffed together and have no idea how they got there or how they are going to escape.

Solid Selections

Gossip Girl (The CW): New. Lily is throwing a party for Charlie. Charlie’s ex is causing problems for her. Dan decides that he needs to tell Blair how he really feels about her. Show returns with new episodes as of January 16th.

Hart of Dixie (The CW): New. Zoe is attempting to help Rose after she enters the Miss Cinnamon Cider Pageant, where she will be going up against Lemon’s younger sister. George and Wade are getting the tree for the town square. Show returns with new episodes as of January 23rd.

Hawaii Five-0 (CBS): New. Bus full of school children has gone missing and the team searches for them and the people behind the abduction.

Other Options

  • The Best Thing I Ever Ate (Food Network): New. Food Network personalities talk about their favorite “Season’s Eatings.” A repeat episode follows. Both play again later.
  • A Charlie Brown Christmas (ABC): Repeat. The classic holiday cartoon created first aired in 1965. Runs 30 minutes.
  • Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives (Food Network): New. Guy checks out some “Coast to Coast Classics.” Two episodes replay right before and one after. All four play again later.
  • Neverland (Syfy): Miniseries Finale. Peter and his band of pickpockets get transferred to Neverland via a magical orb. Part two of two. Runs two hours. Plays again later twice. Part one replays right before. Much like last night, there are plenty of better options on the night.
  • Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice (ABC): Premiere. Classified North Pole tech has fallen into the hands of a naughty kid by mistake and the race is on to recover it. Runs 30 minutes.
  • Rizzoli & Isles (TNT): New. The shooting of a bank manager is being investigated. Maura and Jane’s brother get closer.
  • Two and a Half Men (CBS): New. Walden’s ex shows up while he is trying to impress a new love interest. Runs 31 minutes.

Sports Notes

  • ESPN has a Monday Night Football action with the San Diego Chargers at the Jacksonville Jaguars.
  • ESPN2 has a college basketball game with St. John’s at Detroit.
  • Versus has NHL action.
