Most shows were repeats, so the schedule could be quite bland.
The remotes would sit quietly along with all the TV gear,
Just itching to flip between all the new episodes in the New Year.
Yet there were usually a few things worth checking out,
So I examined the TV Guide to see what I could tout.
We do our best here at the TVaholic website,
To help you find the “Prime” in Primetime each night.
Sunday brings a night full of season finale madness,
Survivor has its 23rd two-hour ender on CBS.
Food Network’s The Next Iron Chef would end season four
And hopefully Dexter‘s sixth won’t make us run for the door.
Following it on Showtime is the last of Homeland season one,
Which is most likely the best bet on the night, bar none.
You can also kickback with NBC’s Sunday Night Football and a beverage
Or enjoy “The Boys’ Night Out” on TNT’s Leverage.
Monday has the first season finale of Terra Nova on FOX,
Would this be the last we’d see of it on our TV box?
You may be interested in A Chipmunk Christmas on ABC,
But I’ll be watching The Closer and Rizzoli & Isles on TNT.
There’s a great Monday Night Football match up on ESPN,
With the Steelers at the 49ers both going for win number eleven.
A Christmas Carol is on AMC with past, present and yet to come lives
And Food Network has a new Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives.
On Tuesday, Discovery Channel has a Dirty Jobs that’s new,
With Mike going out into the Utah desert to hunt fossils for you.
The TNT Mystery Movie Night will be in Deck the Halls mode,
Yet you should watch last year’s Raising Hope Christmas episode.
Wednesday has the “Season Finale Part 1” of FOX’s The X Factor show,
And ESPN has TCU versus Louisiana Tech in the Poinsettia Bowl, yo!
You can take in the American Horror Story season one finale of FX’s,
But I’d rather watch TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland and The Exes.
Thursday has Texans vs. Colts on NFL Net’s Thursday Night Football
And FOX has The X Factor “Season Finale Part 2” for y’all.
The League on FX comes to its third season finish,
While Prime Suspect on NBC continues to languish.
On a more positive note you can find some holiday jubilation,
With ABC Family playing National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
Oh, and there is a bowl game on ESPN that I almost forgot,
Arizona St. and Boise St in the Las Vegas Bowl will be scoring a lot.
Friday continues the final season of Chuck on NBC,
As they hope “Chuck Versus the Santa Suit” will entertain thee.
Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas could be nice,
As ABC Family has the live action film version playing twice.
On Saturday, TBS begins hours of A Christmas Story counting 24
And on NBC we learn It’s a Wonderful Life once more.
FOX is replaying the Terra Nova finale that on Monday was new
And BBC America has a “Best of the Christmas Specials” Doctor Who.
Christmas brings Sunday Night Football on NBC with Bears vs. Packers
And five basketball games playing on TNT, ABC & ESPN for NBA backers.
TNT has a new episode of Leverage and the team a problem to probe,
BBC America has Doctor Who “The Doctor, the Widow & the Wardrobe.”
Now, it’s time to look forward at next year’s fantastic new show stash,
Like ABC Family’s Jane By Design, ABC’s The River and NBC’s Smash.
And, don’t forget the great returning shows that’ll make you holler,
Like FX’s Justified, TNT’s Southland and USA Network’s White Collar.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
