Over on cable, A&E has the fifth season premiere of Hoarders and the 12th season premiere of Intervention, ABC Family has the second winter season premiere of Pretty Little Liars and the first winter season premiere of The Lying Game, E! has a Celebrity Slimdowns special, and TLC has the first season finale of Candy Queen.
Pretty Littlle Liars (ABC Family): Winter Premiere. Things are different between the girls after their arrest. Plays again later. This is a very good episode of this show, but anything more would be too spoilery given what happens.
The Lying Game (ABC Family): Winter Premiere. Nobody knows what happened to Sutton. Char’s aunt, recurring guest star Charisma Carpenter (Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), returns to town. Plays again later. Given that this is only Ep.11, I wouldn’t expect them to answer the big questions. But, they keep piling on new mysteries/secrets without really answering much of anything. And, in this episode they add a whole bunch more. I’m still on board. But, if they don’t start letting the audience in on a few things before the end of the season, it will all just become way too much. What do you think of the show going into the winter premiere?
Hawaii Five-0 (CBS): New. The team is looking into whether the murder of a teen was done by a professional.
How I Met Your Mother (CBS): New. Marshall does a little New Year’s Day tailgating. Barney and Ted decide to open a bar.
2 Broke Girls (CBS): New. Caroline deep into her extreme couponing learns what the secret ingredient is in Max’s cupcakes.
Two and a Half Men (CBS): New. Walden goes to Alan for help after his mom and ex-wife try to take his company away from him. Runs 31 minutes.
The Closer (TNT): Repeat. The seventh winter season finale episode, “Silent Partner,” from last week replays, where Brenda and the team are looking into a murder related to Turell Baylor’s death.
