Switched at Birth (ABC Family): New. Bay is being blamed for the problems Emmett is having. Daphne is not being allowed to play by her coach. Plays again later. Last week’s episode, “The Tempest,” replays right before.

New Girl (FOX): New. Schmidt’s plans for his birthday don’t turn out, so Jess sets out to throw him a birthday celebration. Nick brings a first date to the party. Runs 31 minutes.
Raising Hope (FOX): New. Jimmy is inspired by his daughter’s seemingly advanced development to better himself and go after his G.E.D. Fred Willard guest stars as a teacher. Starts a minute after the half hour and runs 29 minutes. Very funny episode.

Justified (FX): Season Premiere. Raylan ends up having to deal with a Dixie Mafia hitman after a new player comes to the area. Runs 63 minutes. Plays twice and again later. So happy to have this show back and things get off to a fantastic start. Lots of things get put in motion in the premiere and I can’t wait to see where they take us this season.

Solid Selections

Last Man Standing (ABC): New. Vanessa learns they weren’t invited to a neighbor’s party and blames Mike. Runs 30 minutes.

Jane by Design (ABC Family): New. Jane begins to struggle with the demands of her job and maintaining her schoolwork. Plays again later. Last week’s episode, “The Runway,” replays earlier this evening.

White Collar (USA Network): Winter Premiere. Peter and Neal work to find Elizabeth and stop Keller. Plays again later. This is truly one of the best episodes of this show to date, which brings resolution to the midseason cliffhanger. Unlike previous cliffhangers, this one isn’t cleared up quickly at the beginning of the episode. What happens here sets things in motion that will take us through the end of the season and put the show on an interesting footing. I can’t wait for you to see it and hear what you think about it.

Other Options

  • Body of Proof (ABC): New. Rita Wilson guest stars as a mother accused of killing her son, but Megan and the team learn she is innocent and pursue the real killer. Marcia Gay Harden guest stars as a reporter sensationalizing the case.
  • Parenthood (NBC): New. Zeek gets some news from his doctor. Amber is confused by her boss’s actions. Julia is worrying about whether they will actually get Zoe’s baby.
  • Southland (TNT): Season Premiere. Officer Cooper returns to work after having surgery on his back. Lydia tries to help a former informant. Ben gets into it with an intense street cop. Plays again later. If you like this show, you will continue to do so. A couple a very interesting storylines in this episode and a great addition to the show is Lucy Liu. Her character ends up partnered with John Cooper.
