Tonight, FOX has the 11th season premiere of American Idol.
Over on cable, BBC America has the third season premiere of Mistresses, Cooking Channel has the second season premieres of Extra Virgin, and USA Network has the third winter season premiere of Royal Pains.

The Middle (ABC): New. Frankie is less than enthused with her volunteer position at the Super Bowl.
Suburgatory (ABC): New. George wins a trip to Atlantic City and plans on taking the guys, where they run into Steven who is supposed to be out of the country on business.
Modern Family (ABC): New. Claire is prepping for a debate. Mitchell and Cam are dealing with Lily’s dirty mouth. Jay is blaming Gloria for Stella’s strange behavior. Runs 31 minutes.
Happy Endings (ABC): New. Penny is dating a slacker that she tries to mold to her needs. Brad has regressed back to his college days. Starts a minute after the half hour and runs 29 minutes.
Revenge (ABC): New. Charlotte has to move back with her mother. Daniel makes a romantic proposal. Jack ends up in trouble. Nolan has Emily thinking about her actions and the repercussions.
Solid Selections
One Tree Hill (The CW): New. Brooke talks to her father about a new business venture. Julian is worried about the investment he made. Alex gets a tempting offer.
Criminal Minds (NBC): New. The team starts to think that a notorious killer has come back. Reid is pondering if he could use his abilities for more.
Royal Pains (USA Network): Winter Premiere. Hank thinks the Dr. Van Dyke is behind the prescription error that almost killed his patient. Hank is trying to figure out what is wrong with the party planner in charge of a huge divorce party. Plays again later. There are a couple a really interesting developments in this episode.
Other Options
- CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (CBS): New. The team investigates a hit at a law firm that was the same one that Catherine recommended to a friend. The FBI is back to help on the case. Next week’s episode is Marg Helgenberger’s last. Tonight picks the story up that they started previously with the stolen guns and the friend that was in need of a divorce attorney. The episodes is very good and it looks like they have really ramped things up a bit for Willows to make her exit.
- Leverage (TNT): Repeat. This past Sunday’s fourth season finale episode, “The Last Dam Job,” replays.

- ESPN has NBA action with the Portland Trail Blazers at the Atlanta Hawks followed by the Dallas Mavericks at the Los Angeles Clippers.
- ESPN2 has doubleheader college basketball action with Cincinnati at Connecticut followed by Texas at Kansas State.
- NBC Sports Net has NHL action.
Late Night
- Being Human (Syfy): Repeat. The second season premiere episode, “Turn This Mother Out,” replays.
- Lost Girl (Syfy): Repeat. The series premiere episode, “It’s a Fae, Fae, Fae, Fae World,” replays.
