Over on cable, ABC Family has the first season finale of Switched at Birth and Lifetime has a couple of Prank My Mom specials.
Tuesday night shows normally mentioned below but are either repeats or not on tonight are ABC’s Last Man Standing and CBS’ NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles.
Prime Picks
Raising Hope (FOX): New. Sabrina gets arrested after putting together an Occupy Natesville protest. Her stay in jail is made worse by a guard, guest star singer Katy Perry. Virginia helps the mayor out of a jam.
Cougar Town (ABC): New. Bobby develops a thing for Travis’ photography professor. Laurie develops a thing for someone she has only chatted with on Twitter.
New Girl (FOX): New. Nick hurts himself, but doesn’t have insurance. So, Jess takes him to a doctor friend that happens to be a gynecologist for help.
Breaking In (FOX): Season Premiere. Oz is thinking of selling the business to a big company, but things get turned around when the head of that organization investigates the business before buying. I’m very happy that this show was picked up for a second season. It returns with a solid offering that includes Megan Mullally (Will & Grace) as a new member of the cast. This episode with next week’s episode works really well to fully introduce what the series will be now.
Justified (FX): New. Raylan has to confront his past after a murder. Boyd is dealing with the corrupt Sheriff of Harlan. Plays twice and again later. Last week’s episode, “The Man Behind the Curtain,” replays in late night as well.
Solid Selections
Switched at Birth (ABC Family): Season Finale. Bay finds herself caught in the middle of Emmett’s custody battle. Daphne takes part in a very important basketball game. Kathryn meets with a book editor about her book idea. Plays again later. The previous three episodes replay right before.
The River (ABC): New. The Magnus crew comes across a camera bag of tapes that belonged to Emmett, which takes them further into the Amazon.
Southland (TNT): New. Lydia and Ruben are investigating the death of a nanny and also looking for the kids she was looking after. Plays again later.
Other Options
- Jane by Design (ABC Family): New. Ben now knows what Jane has been up to. Billy gets in trouble after trying to help his brother.
- Ringer (The CW): New. More is learned about Agent Machado. Henry is trying to keep Bridget from messing things up for him. Tyler takes a piece of evidence from Siohban.
Sports Notes
- ESPN has women’s college basketball action by men’s college basketball action.
- ESPN2 has four college basketball games.
- NBA TV has the New York Knicks at the Dallas Mavericks.
- NBC Sports has NHL action.
Late Night
- Awake (Syfy): Repeat. Last Thursday’s series premiere episode, “Pilot,” replays on NBC’s sister cable outlet.
- Psych (USA Network): Repeat. Last Wednesday’s midseason premiere episode, “Indiana Shawn and the Temple of the Kinda Crappy, Rusty Old Dagger,” replays.
TV Marathons
ION has six episodes of Criminal Minds tonight.
USA Network has 17 episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
