TV Friday: XIII Series Premiere, Common Law & More

News & Notes

Get Common Law Episodes via Amazon Instant VideoOn cable tonight, Disney Channel has the second season premiere My Babysitter’s a Vampire, HBO has the 10th summer season finale of Real Time With Bill Maher, Reelz Channel has the series premiere of XIII, and Syfy has the first season finale of Insane or Inspired?.

Prime Picks

Nikita (FOX): Repeat. The “Looking Glass” episode from this past season replays, where Michael wants to go help protect a woman from his past.

XIII (Reelz Channel): Series Premiere. This series stars Stuart Townsend (Night Stalker) and Aisha Tyler (Archer and is about a man’s quest to uncover the truth about his identity while trying to stop a conspiracy that could change the balance of power in the world. He is named after the Roman numeral “XIII” that is tattooed on his neck and is a former secret operative who has had his memory stripped. He does not know who he is, what he is trained to be or whom he serves and is being hunted by a dark anti-government organization. This sound like a cross between Hitman and The Bourne Identity, but the trailer looks decent. Wish I had Reelz Channel, so I could watch it. It runs 13 episodes.

Common Law (USA Network): New. Wes and Travis are tasked with a role playing exercise, so they can see how each other see the other one. Plays again later. I think I figured out another thing that bothers me about this show. How often does this couples therapy group meet? It seems often enough to fit the purposes of the show, but way more than any such group would actually be meeting. Are you watching? How are you enjoying the show?

What cable company do you have that doesn’t carry Reelz? I didn’t see Comcast listed when I used the channel finder on the Reelz web page, but did a search for XIII on my TiVo and discovered that they do actually carry the channel! Interested to check this show out.

Kyle, I have Comcast/Xfinity and Reelz isn’t available in my area. For me, it only on Dish Network or Direct TV for me. For those in the Seattle area that can get FiOS, it may be available on that as well. So, for me, I’ll have to wait until it comes out on DVD or ends up on Netflix.

I really like Common Law. I like all the characters. Definitely watching. Worthy of having a series setting on the DVR.
