‘Twas the TV Week Before Christmas – 2012

‘Twas the week before Christmas, when all through TV land,
Most shows were on hiatus, so the schedule seemed bland.
The remotes were sitting quietly next to the TV gear,
Their owners anxiously awaiting new episodes in the New Year.
Get TV Guide at Amazon
But, was everything really as bad as it seemed,
Or were there a few watchable nuggets to be gleamed.
So I scrolled through the onscreen TV guide to see,
And here is what I found to watch for thee.

On Wednesday CBS has the 14th A Home for the Holidays
And NBC has Chicago Fire, which hasn’t set ratings ablaze,
After the Miss Universe Pageant takes the stage,
Over on USA Network WWE Tribute to the Troops will be all the rage.

20/20: The Year With Katie Couric is also on ABC this night,
But it won’t be winning the best bet to watch tonight fight.
That would be BBC America’s drama The Hour,
Which has a story about police collusion & nuclear power.

Thursday has a college football bowl with a very long name,
As ESPN has the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl game.
The Cougars of BYU will be playing the Aztecs of San Diego State
And on FOX The X Factor finalists will learn their fate.

On the night Jersey Shore will finally be no more on MTV
And FX has the eighth It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season finale.
The League on FX has its fourth season finale as well
And NBC has A White House Christmas: First Families Remember to tell.

ABC has the animated I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown
Followed by a CMA Country Christmas with bands like Little Big Town.
You won’t want to miss what’s coming from our USA Network friends,
Where we’ll see how the sixth season of Burn Notice ends.

On Friday ABC goes Back to the Beginning With Christiane Amanpour
And TNT has Christmas in Washington 2012 for the viewer.
The Brit List on BBC America takes on Doctor Who,
But don’t forget that FOX has a new Fringe for you.

Come Saturday ESPN has college and NFL football action,
Where I’ll be part of the Washington Huskies rooting faction.
They play Boise State in the Maaco Las Vegas Bowl game
And the Atlanta Falcons hope the Detroit Lions play tame.

TV Guide Channel has Stand-Up in Stilettos taking its turn
And CBS has another Made in Jersey to burn,
While NBC has a WWE Tribute to the Troops encore,
But the best is Wedding Band on TBS playing once more.

On Sunday NBC has Sunday Night Football that’s been flexed
And hopefully the Seahawks will keep the 49ers perplexed.
Food Network selects The Next Iron Chef that rocks
Or there’s Family Guy and American Dad on FOX.

Monday is Christmas Eve and TBS starts its annual movie marathon,
As A Christmas Story plays 12 times before it’s gone.
Food Network has a new Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives
And the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl on ESPN arrives.

Christmas is Tuesday and there are NBA games all day,
You can watch the Celtics, Lakers, Heat, Bulls & Clippers all play.
Hallmark Channel is playing all 12 of this year’s new holiday flicks
And TNT has finales of Rizzoli & Isles and Leverage in the mix.

But, to miss BBC America’s special offering would be a sin,
So make sure to watch Doctor Who: The Snowmen.
Come the New Year there are plenty of new shows to watch out,
But The Following on FOX is what everyone will be talking about.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
