Prime Picks
Revolution (NBC): Season Premiere. It is some six months after the events of the tower, which we learn about in flashbacks, and Aaron, Myles and Rachel are living in a small town. Charlie is off on her own mission and Neville is searching for his wife along with his son. I’ve seen the first two episodes of season two and it does look like they have fixed a few problems and added in some interesting elements of what is exactly going on now that it looks like the power is off for good. It may be playing early in the night, but it has a much darker tone than at any point last season. I stuck with it through the first season and was ready to jump ship. But, after hearing show creator Eric Kripke talk about problems with the show last season and what they needed to do to fix them during an interview at Comic-Con this summer I was interested again. And, after seeing the first couple, I think they may have done so. I am least going to stick around for a few episodes to see for sure. I talked about the return of Revolution and the rest of the NBC Fall Schedule with @mytakeontv and @ShowPatrol on the TV times Three Podcast. Also, check out some video interviews with the cast about the new season and a photo gallery from Comic-Con 2013.
Modern Family (ABC): Season Premiere. Phil and Claire attempt to put together a kid free week amongst all the kids’ scheduled activities over the summer.
Modern Family (ABC): New. Luke and Manny attend their first day of high school. Claire goes back to work. Today is the last day to enter our Modern Family Season 4 Blu-ray giveaway.
Broadchurch (BBC America): Season Finale. Many in the town are coming together to mourn Danny. Hardy comes across a piece of evidence that finally leads him to the killer. Plays again later.
Solid Selections
The Middle (ABC): Season Premiere. The whole family helps Axl move into his dorm at college, even though he doesn’t want them there. Brick can’t seem to keep a handle on his new cell phone.
Back in the Game (ABC): Series Premiere. Terry and her son move back in with her father. After her son doesn’t make the local little league team, she offers to coach a new team that includes her son and the rest of the kids that were left out. I really like the cast with Maggie Lawson (Psych) as Terry and James Caan (Las Vegas) as her father. There might be a fun sitcom in here, but a few elements of this first episode are over the top. Plus, how much is it really going to revolve around baseball in each episode. I will be checking out more episodes to find out, as it presently sits on my “to be determined” list. I talked about Back in the Game and the rest of the ABC Fall Schedule with @mytakeontv and @raelee on the TV times Three Podcast.
Criminal Minds (CBS): Season Premiere. The BAU team is tracking a quickly devolving killer. Everyone thinks that Hotch is up for the unit chief position.
The Bridge (FX): New. Sonya tries to repair her relationship with Marco. Charlotte makes an unlikely alliance. Runs 70 minutes. Plays twice and again later.
