Then we discuss the second season premieres of Sleepy Hollow, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Resurrection and the fourth season premiere of Person of Interest. Prime Picks

Haven (Syfy): New. Dwight and Nathan disagree about how to handle Mara. Plays again later.

Scandal (ABC): New. Fitz is prepping for the State of the Union. Mellie continues to deal with the loss of her child, but the public gets a look at how.

Parenthood (NBC): New. Kristina deals with problems at the new school, as does Adam. Zeek has some tough decisions regarding his health. Joel and Julia find out why Sydney is having problems at school.

Solid Selections

Bones (FOX): New. Agent Aubrey attempts to help the team solve the case of who is behind the conspiracy, but some surprising DNA evidence may swing the case.

Gracepoint (FOX): Series Premiere. A boy is found dead on the beach of a small coastal town in Northern California and anyone in town is a suspect. A local detective just back from vacation finds that the promotion she was expecting was filled by an outsider. They end up partnered to solve the case. This is a 10-part series based on the British series Broadchurch. If you’ve seen Broadchurch, there isn’t much reason to watch this. I’ve seen the first two episodes and they are almost identical to the first two episodes of Broadchurch. From what I understand, that pretty much holds through episodes seven and then it starts to diverge and may or may not lead to a different conclusion. I don’t plan on watching anymore, but if you like this kind of series and haven’t seen the British version, it is well done with a great cast.

How to Get Away With Murder (ABC): New. An accused murderer is defended by Annalise while she also begins to suspect that her husband may have been involved in the disappearance of a student.

Other Options

  • A to Z (NBC): Series Premiere. A guy, played by Ben Feldman (Drop Dead Diva), who works for an online matchmaking site, but can seem to find the right woman meets a lawyer, played by Cristin Milioti (How I Met Your Mother), from across the way that hasn’t done so well meeting Mr. Right. Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy) provides the voiceover narration. In the opener, they meet, as the series chronicles their relationship from A to Z. Runs 30 minutes. This is a cute show with very likable leads that have good chemistry. Some of the side characters aren’t as good, but hopefully will be used better going forward. I look forward to checking out more of this one, but wonder how well it will do in a tough timeslot following the terrible Bad Judge. Also, don’t understand why this one isn’t paired up with NBC’s other new rom-com, Marry Me.
  • Bad Judge (NBC): Series Premiere. Kate Walsh (Private Practice) plays a judge that is good at her job, but not so great in her personal life. In the opener, she attempts to help a young boy whose parents she put in jail. Runs 30 minutes. This show is terrible. The original “Pilot” episode was terrible, but they had some behind the scenes changes and went a different way with the show. Yet, they didn’t reshoot the premiere episode. They just changed a few things. I actually think they made is worse. And, the second episode isn’t any better. This is just a mess all around and will likely given its timeslot and how bad it is not last long.
  • Grey’s Anatomy (ABC): New. Maggie gets into some trouble while making friends and trying to show how good she is. Richard has a secret.
  • The Vampire Diaries (The CW): Season Premiere. Elena begins her sophomore year at Whitmore. Caroline seeks to figure out how to reverse the anti-magic spell that Mystic Falls is under.
