Prime Picks

Inside Comedy (SHO2): Repeat. Ted Danson and Wanda Sykes are interviewed.
Inside Comedy (SHO2): Repeat. Bryan Cranston and Carol Leifer are interviewed.

Devious Maids (Lifetime): Season Premiere. We find out what happened with the shooting at Rosie’s wedding. A couple has moved back to the area after adopting a mysterious child. Plays again later. If you’ve enjoyed the first two seasons, you’re going to enjoy season three.

UnREAL (Lifetime): Series Premiere. Shiri Appleby (Life UneXpected, Rosewell) plays a producer on a reality dating show that is tasked with manipulating participants to create wild situations to film. She herself is back from an on camera breakdown. It also stars Constance Zimmer (House of Cards, Entourage). Runs 62 minutes. Plays twice and again later twice. This is way better than it has any right to be, but it is a brutal look behind-the-scenes of a The Bachelor type reality dating show. It is one of the top two or three new shows premiering this summer. I’ve seen the first three and will definitely be keeping up with this one. Love seeing Appleby in a bit of a darker role. Zimmer is great getting to play a wicked showrunner. Lots of soapy drama to make you wonder how much of this type of stuff actually goes on.

Other Options

  • Game of Thrones (HBO2): Repeat. Last night’s episode, “Hardhome,” replays. Plays again later on HBO.
  • Jane the Virgin (The CW): Repeat. The series premiere episode, “Chapter One (Pilot),” replays.
  • Veep (HBO): Repeat. Last night’s episode, “B/ill,” replays. Runs 30 minutes.
  • The Whispers (ABC): Series Premiere. Something mysterious is using young children to cause deadly problems and only looks to be growing. Starts a minute after the hour and runs 59 minutes. This feels like a paint-by-numbers creepy thriller that tries to up the creepiness factor by using little kids to convey the “terror.” But, in the first 10 minutes you will know how each of the many “twists” in the last five minutes is going to turn out.
