Prime Picks

The Big Bang Theory (CBS): Season Premiere. Penny isn’t dealing well with Leonard’s confession. Sheldon doesn’t understand why Amy wants to take a break. Runs 31 minutes.
Life in Pieces (CBS): Series Premiere. This follows the ups and downs of the Short family in four segments each episode. Matt may have found the perfect woman for him new parents. Greg and Jen are dealing with having a baby. Heather and Tim think about having another kid. John wants to know what people would say at his funeral. Starts a minute after the half hour and runs 29 minutes. It’s basically Modern Family with an equally great cast, but I quite enjoyed it even though I’ve long given up on the former. For more on the show, listen to my spoiler free preview of Life in Pieces.

Chasing Life (ABC Family): New. April gets a visit from an old college friend. Beth gets some bad news.

Blindspot (NBC): Series Premiere. A woman with amnesia is found naked in a bag in Times Square and covered with tattoos. One of them is of an FBI agent, but he doesn’t know who she is either. But, the FBI does figure out that what is on her body may be clues to an upcoming attack. It is one of the better new shows this fall. I quite liked it. To find out why, check out my spoiler free preview of Blindspot.

Solid Selections

Gotham (FOX): Season Premiere. Gordon goes to Penguin for help. Bruce learns what is behind the fireplace. Arkham gets a couple new inmates. If you liked last season, but hoped for more from the villains, you are going to like the first couple episodes of season two.

Minority Report (FOX): Series Premiere. This is a sequel to the movie Minority Report that takes place in 2065, some 10 years after where the end of the precrime system. It is about a cop that ends up getting help from one of the precogs that was used in that system. This gets off to a really rough start and isn’t actually all that good. I was hoping for more, but will check out a couple more episodes to see if it gets better. For more on Minority Report, listen to my spoiler free preview.

Castle (ABC): Season Premiere. Castle is searching for Beckett after getting a mysterious call. Starts a minute after the hour and runs 59 minutes.

Other Options

  • NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS): Season Premiere. Callen seems to have gone rogue and the rest of the team is left in the dark as to why. Starts a minute before the hour and runs 61 minutes.
  • Scorpion (CBS): Season Premiere. The team is reassembled to deal with a Russian satellite that has been knocked out of orbit. Runs 59 minutes. While adding Alana de la Garza is never a bad thing, I’d much rather still be watching her on the canceled Forever. Really the only reason I am even mentioning this show is that if you thought the series premiere episode was ridiculous, they figured out a way to top it. This is one of the funniest shows on TV, just not on purpose.
  • Strike Back (Cinemax): Repeat. This past Friday night’s episode replays.
  • Switched at Birth (ABC Family): New. It’s Spring Break and Daphne, Bay and Travis are headed to Mexico to help Melody do some volunteer work. Plays again later.

Sports Note

  • ESPN has Monday Night Football NFL action with the New York Jets at the Indianapolis Colts.
