The Muppets (ABC): Series Premiere. Miss Piggy is the host of a late night talk show and a documentary crew is following those putting the show together behind the scenes and in their personal lives. In the premiere, Piggy is mad a Kermit for booking Elizabeth Banks and Fozzie meets his girlfriend’s parents. This show is fun, but felt a bit slow after having watched the 10-minute “Pilot” presentation that was out there. It uses much of the jokes from that, but spread them out over 22-minutes. I’ve been calling this a cross between The Muppet Show and 30 Rock/The Office, but really it is the Muppets doing The Larry Sanders Show. I think my favorite thing about it is that it would make Miss Piggy the only female late night talk show host at present.
Fresh Off the Boat (ABC): Season Premiere. Louis ends up having to take the rest of the family on his business trip, where Jessica tries to relax and Eddie tries to ride a rollercoaster at a nearby amusement park. This show is just fantastic. If you liked it in season one, you’re going to continue to like it. If you didn’t watch for some reason, then it’s time to jump on.
NCIS: New Orleans (CBS): Season Premiere. The team goes undercover to track down a stolen missile that might be used in an attack on a Navy ship.
Limitless (CBS): Series Premiere. A guy that hasn’t really amounted to much in his life gets his hands on a drug that makes him able to process lots of information. It is a sequel to Limitless, the 2011 film starring Bradley Cooper, who appears here as the same character. It picks up about five years later. I quite liked it and think it fits well into CBS’ schedule. It works similar to Elementary and Person of Interest, as it has some big ongoing story elements and a weekly mystery or a serialized procedural. For more, listen to my spoiler free review of Limitless.
NCIS (ABC): Season Premiere. DiNozzo and Joanna attempt to take down the Calling while Gibbs fights for his life after getting shot.
The Flash (The CW): Repeat. The “Grodd Lives” episode replays, where Grodd is sent by Dr. Wells to distract Barry. “The Trap” episode replays right before.
The Bastard Executioner (FX): New. Wilkin may have to execute an unlikely person and works to try and change things. Runs 76 minutes. Plays twice and again later. Listen to my spoiler free preview of The Bastard Executioner.
- Scream Queens (FOX): Series Premiere. A horror comedy anthology series that has the first season taking place in and around a sorority on a college campus. The first two episodes play tonight to kick off the season. Runs two hours. I didn’t like this at all, as I didn’t find it funny or scary. For more on why, listen to my spoiler free preview of Scream Queens.
- Survivor’s Remorse (Starz Comedy): Repeat. This past Saturday night’s episode, “One-Love,” replays. Runs 35 minutes. Plays again later.
- ESPN has Tuesday Night Baseball MLB action with the New York Yankees at the Toronto Blue Jays.
Tuesday TV Marathons
Criminal Minds (ION): Has 10 episodes.
CSI: NY (TNT): Five episodes in late night.
Law & Order (WEtv): Seven episodes tonight into late night.
Law & Order: Criminal Intent (WEtv): Five episodes today.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (USA Network): Nine episodes.
Modern Family (USA Network): Has 10 episodes tonight.
