Prime Picks

The Simpsons (FOX): Season Premiere. Homer and Marge end up in marriage counseling. Runs 30 minutes.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (FOX): Season Premiere. A new captain takes over and the squad tries to figure out how to deal with the change. Holt works his first day in his new position. Runs 30 minutes. Has some fun with the captain thing, as well as Jake and Amy dealing with the kiss. Very happy to have this show back, how about you?

Blood & Oil (ABC): Series Premiere. A young couple risks everything to strike out on their own and head to the new boomtown area of North Dakota, where there has been some recent large oil discoveries. It wants to be Dallas meets Deadwood, but it’s more TNT’s reboot of the former and nowhere near as good as the latter. It’s trying to replace the soapy extravagance of Revenge, but it’s as good as that either from the jump. This is mainly getting a Prime Pick spot because it’s new, I stopped watching CSI a while ago, The Good Wife doesn’t premiere until next week and nothing else scripted-wise that is already on is all that good either. Quantico (ABC): Series Premiere. A terrorist attack seems to be linked to someone from a recent class of graduates from the FBI Academy. We see the investigation into the attack begin in present day and flashback to the first few days of training at Quantico. There are some problems with this one, but I quite liked it. It is one of my favorite new fall shows, although it is admittedly a weak pool to pull from. The cast is solid and I found the mystery and the storytelling style interesting as well. Solid Selections

Once Upon a Time (ABC): Season Premiere. Emma goes to Merlin for help fighting her new darkness. Everyone get together to try and save Emma.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (CBS): Series Finale. Grissom and Willows return to help solve a case that has brought Las Vegas to its knees. There are lots of other returnees as well. Runs two hours. Will be interesting to see how they fit everyone into the story with it only being two episodes to close things out, but at least CBS gave them the opportunity to do so, unlike they did with other CSI incarnations. Are you going to be watching?

Other Options

  • Fear the Walking Dead (AMC): New. Travis and Madison have to make some difficult decisions after learning what the National Guard has planned. Runs 62 minutes. Plays twice and again later. The previous two episodes replay right before.
  • The Great Food Truck Race (Food Network): Season Finale. The final two teams compete to complete three dishes in 30 minutes and then off to Chicago to sell three different ethnic dishes in three different neighborhoods. Plays again later.
  • The Last Man on Earth (FOX): Season Premiere. Phil and Carol are on a road trip after leaving Tucson. Runs 30 minutes. A couple of humorous parts and not nearly as annoying as things got in the middle/end of the first season, but not really doing it for me anymore. Do you watch the whole first season and will you be watching season two?
  • The Strain (FX): New. Eph has to choose between the safety of Zack and New York City. Gus and Angel recruit some new people. Runs 73 minutes. Plays twice and again later.
  • Strike Back (MoMax): Repeat. This past Friday night’s episode replays. Plays again later.
  • Survivor’s Remorse (Starz): Repeat. Last night’s episode, “The Dagger,” replays. Plays again later two times.
